No, the Jeffersons moved on up to the east side to a deluxe apartment in the sky. They moved on up to the east side, they finally got a piece of that pie.

- she wasn't in the pilot so adding Elaine to the Seinfeld roster was a great choice.

- even though I liked the Trapper John character replacing Wayne Rogers with Mike Farrell turned out to be a good thing.

I agree with Kristie Alley on Cheers but thought MWC was better with David Garrison as Steve Rhodes than McGinley as Jefferson.

Wasn't Frank Burns an original character on MASH?

Woody was a great addition to Cheers after Coach.

Man, I couldn't disagree more, BJ was one of the worst characters ever. "OOOh, I miss my wife and kid!!" ugh, horrible. Course, that coincided to the writers deciding the show would no longer be a comedy with a war theme to a war show with some comedy thrown in..

I think that his character was like that to give Hawkeye more to play off of. Trapper John and Hawkeye were basically the same type of character and when your 2 main characters are like that you can only go so far with the storylines.

When Trapper left, it became the whiny Hawkeye show which I didn't like as much. I didn't like  it as much after he left,  but thought the ending scene of that finale was maybe the best ever ("Goodbye" in rocks).
Burns was better than Charles as well, but Potter did a great job replacing Maclean Stevenson.

The ending was awesome, I'll agree.

At first when someone suggested Winchester replacing Frank Burns was a good move I was appalled but I have to say, yeah, at the time Burns left, it was time for a change. The early years of Frank Burns though were 1000x better than Winchester. And yeah, Potter replacing Henry Blake I think was a good even swap which was a good thing. Both were great..but still, no way in hell was whiny Honeycutt ever a better replacement for Trapper. I hated that character so much I can't stand to see Mike Farrell in ANYTHING he sucked so bad as BJ..

Well, Wayne Rogers left as Trapper because when the show started it was supposed to be he and Hawkeye as at WORST a 50/50 swap of the funny...by the time he left the Hawkeye character was basically the star of the show and he was his sidekick so he quit, it wasn't what he signed up for.
That said, they decided with BJ they would make him funny but serious, honestly, when I see it's a BJ Honeycutt episode on now I flip the channel...we get it, war is hell, you miss your kid and your wife, blah blah blah, STFU, the writers just mailed it in with that character IMO..

BJ was just one pun after another. Mash had puns very often but it seemed like BJ solely spoke in puns. Hate him.
Burns was great for the first three years but to me he was stale in years four and five.
I love colonel potter, but henry/radar, destroyed potter/radar. Potter/Klinger was hilarious.

Yep, I agree with you on all that. One of the only good things about how the show changed over the years to me was transforming Klinger into a legit character instead of a running joke each week..

Good one. Didn't Dennis Franz play another character originally that was a corrupt cop and killed himself?
