This was one of the many post-turkey topics of conversation yesterday.

First question.  Who has or has not ever used one?  I have never used one.  I do not remember any of my friends having a Ouija board.
Was this a fad thing and is now making a comeback?  When did it hit it's popularity peak, the 1960's?
The crowd I was with was split on using the board.  We were lUghing and debating of how it was marketed, either as a children's toy or an adult item.  We decided it was marketed to both.

It was originally patented as a "toy or game" back in 1891 and though I haven't checked pretty sure that you will find it in the toy or game section of stores that have such sections.

Some interesting info here:

My mother played with these in the '60s and said they were very popular then. I wasn't aware they were making a comeback. I've never used one and don't know anyone from my generation who has.

They were alive and well in the mid 70s. Had a relative that had one and always wanted to 'play'.

Not for me.

Somehow I find it hard to believe that Hasbro has the keys that unlock the deepest secrets of the meta-physical beyond.

Mom had one back in the 60's. I tried it once but it wouldn't work for me.
Perhaps they're like divining rods - they'll only work for certain people.

Paranormal types use them.

As something that both myself and the wifey believe in, these things are bad news. Too many bad things can happen if you use them.

Like I stated in an earlier post, I don't think Hasbro can rule over our mortal souls. Mattel maybe, but not Hasbro.

My younger relatives were drawn to the board through recent movies.

There were quite a few older relatives who thought of these boards as bad news, and it sounds like they were not into it being the "devil's tool" but they would not want to use the board due to them having reservations of the mystery behind it. That is why I posted this discussion. People seem to be more fearful of the unknown than the board itself. It seemed a little bit odd when listening to them.

We think that spirts have a way to use these to try and "power up" and do harm to people. It's a portal from beyond.

Interesting. But don't you think it would be a little strange for something so mainstream to have so much power? Usually anything occult related is a closely guarded secret passed down to only others who "in the know" so to speak. Again, I'm not trying to be a wise guy, just interested in your point of view.

Never used one and never will.

Heard a few stories from friends who used them. Weird things happen. In one case, they asked something like "who's going to die first" and then it pointed to one of the girls. She was a teen who died a few months later in a car crash or something.
