I've never called but Petros from the petros and money show gives out his cell number once a year and people text it. I did that for awhile

I called Howard Eskin (Philly bigshot) when the Benoit murders were revealed and he was on the air saying that the ncident was becuase of 'roid rage'. I don't remember my argument against him but it was cohesive enough that he didn't call me a dope or moron (his calling cards)

Wasn't this the asshole who had an affair with a woman and her husband murdered her for it?

This topic made me laugh, because 20 years ago when I started to listen to Phil Hendrie nightly and finally figured out the "gimmick", he would every few weeks break the 4th wall of his show and let everyone in on the gimmick, that he was the host and doing the voice of the guests. He said he could do this every night, let everyone in on the gimmick several times a show and his show would still get hundreds of calls from angry people wanting to argue with his "guest". He said he did it years ago to prove to someone that the callers to talk shows are NOT fans or even listeners usually to the show but people that are flipping by on the radio, stop for a minute, hear the topic and get outraged and call. Said he had told his general managers for years that the callers weren't their listener base but just people to mostly happened to flip by and hear them that night.

Every night you'd have some woman call in screaming at the "guest" and say "I don't even listen to this show but I flipped by and heard this guest and just HAD to call in I was so angry.."

In the 90's, I would call the local classic rock station for their various discussions. They were the typical "Wacky Morning DJs" and every so often I'd make it on-air.

Most notable was a dating episode/hook-up they had, one morning in late 1998. I called in and talked for a bit, hoping to score a date. Got to work around 9 and somebody immediately came up to me and said: "did you win the radio dating game?!" I acted like it wasn't me and tried to brush it off.

I actually won (they selected 10 guys and 10 girls)...and there was a message on my answering machine, when I got home. Of course, still lived with my parents and they heard the message, so I was embarrassed all around. Never called into a radio show, after that.

Called in to a Sat morning wrestling show once to correct the hosts about some historical topic they were talking out their ass about. I don't even remember what it was.

Thought about correcting these 2 local dumbasses in the afternoon when they were arguing over whether Chien Ming Wang was Korean or Japanese. I just decided to let them look stupid.

I used to call one of the afternoon Sports Shows here years ago on Fridays when they would do their Stump the Chump challenge. You'd ask them a question, and if they couldn't answer it, they'd ask you one. If you could then you'd win a dinner to a local restaurant. I won a few times, but I always had to stick to Hockey and Boxing questions, because I knew they would almost never get one. I won once asking who was the only player to score 50+ goals in 9 straight seasons. They all thought it was either Gretzky or Lemieux (It was Mike Bossy). Then their question was simple...who were the current version of the KC Scouts ( NJ Devils ) Another time I asked them the name of the Boxer who beat one of the other Hosts of a morning program on their station. They didn't know, and asked me who the Wild Bull of Pampas was...thankfully fairly easy for me since it was Luis Firpo. Haven't called in years though.

Opinions about who the Timberwolves should start at shooting guard or which reserve Vikings DB deserves more field time bore me when they come from other callers, so I don't phone in on that stuff. The single time I've ever called sports talk radio came ages ago when some KFAN hosts were going on about why a particular key late afternoon doubleheader game wasn't being aired in the Twin Cities. I called up and succinctly explained how the NFL broadcast protocol works and what it meant concerning the Vikings game on the other station with regard as to why this game wouldn't be on local TV. The answer from one of the hosts? A disinterested "perhaps". There was no perhaps about it, that was how it was, but the fact is they'll never acknowledge a listener could have an answer they don't and I made a vow that has lasted since then to just not bother with it.
