You're focusing on one situation. I'm not. I'm talking about the thousands of others that happen each year. Yes, he found a way around it, and obviously more have and will do the same.

That doesn't mean that we shouldn't at least try to find ways to alleviate the issue.

Your inability to focus on my point about mental illness being defunded because he'd rather give tax cuts to himself and his cronies, and fund stupid shit like a border wall is why we're heading in the wrong direction.

Here's the "good guy with a gun" who supposedly doesn't exist.

This fucking idiot did away with previous legislation set up to make it difficult to get guns if you're mentally ill. Not to mention he and the entire GOP have gone out of their way to defund programs that address mental health. Just like Reagan.

Him and those that support him are clowns.

He was court-martialed and convicted on charges of assault against his wife and step-son.  That alone should have prevented him from purchasing firearms, but the USAF "forgot" to report his conviction to the federal database.  So we already have a law in place to keep this guy from getting a gun (legally) but our legion of bureaucratic paper pushers dropped the ball.  What now?  You want to enact yet another redundant law?  Trump lives in your head rent free.

You mean the federal database.  There is no plural.  Also, it is not computerized.  It is manual.  Yes, manual.  Do you wonder why that is?
From USA Today
Although the paper records are eventually transformed into digital images, investigators' use of the computerized system is strictly limited by federal law that prohibits the creation of a searchable database based on firearms' purchasers.Oct 26, 2015

Now, I am a gun owner myself although I am down to 1 and forced my wife to take lessons because my eyesight is so bad I could not hit the side of a barn.

Please don't tell me what we are doing is adequate. It isn't even close. We keep better track of car licenses than we do of who owns guns. The registry wouldn't have helped at all as it is currently constructed. Let's start there. Computerize the fucking thing.

Liberals always say there's no such thing and this never happens.  This guy very clearly saved lives.

26 died first.  I am not blaming anyone in particular but see my last post.  The Air Force basically didn't report it but it is a black hole anyway.  The idea that we have a real registry is a complete joke.

Is a searchable database something we could all agree on? Why would we not agree with that?

The agency gets more than 1000 requests for gun traces each day. ... The bad: The computerized system isn't much better. ... That's because dealer records are required to be “non-searchable” under federal law. ... Protection Act, which bans the ATF from creating a registry of guns, gun owners or gun sales.

FWIW - I am thrilled the guy capped him. I have nothing against law abiding citizens owning firearms. I have a problem with nut jobs having them and owner assault weapons seems a bit much. Also, there is no realistic way to track anything despite what many think.

The guy who shot him wasn't in the church, he was running barefoot from across the street.  Give him a chance to get there.  Certainly "hundreds" more wouldn't have died as Trump said, but more would've.  He had the gun pointed at a woman when he was shot and had to flee.  He saved that life for sure.

Thus me saying I am glad he capped him.

Think of all them second amendment rights being trampled!  Obama could stage a coup, then literally have a database at his greasy fingertips!  Soros would have a field day!!!!!!!!
