I'm going to pop across the border in a couple weeks for a long weekend, with wife and daughter.  Any Hogtowners have a recommendation for a Saturday afternoon?  I was thinking about doing the Christmas Market in the distillery district but I'm wondering if it's not a bit of a pricy tourist trap.  Can anyone recommend another holiday-related activity?

Pricey (depending on if you're just there for a stroll or plan to buy stuff) but it's tradition nowadays - they really do a nice job with it.  If the weather is right for it, skating an Nathan Philips square.

Not entirely holiday-related, but maybe Ripley's aquarium with the family?

We're just going to window shop, but I'll still have to buy admission and parking. If it's a Christmasy kind of day with some snow flurries, we'll probably do it just for the picture-taking but I want back up plans, too. I'd love to do the outdoor skating but our little one is only 3 and my wife is hopelessly unathletic. We're doing the Science Center on Sunday then back to WNY on Monday.

They may have decorations ready at the Eaton Centre.
I've enjoyed Casa Loma
St. Lawrence Market-
Of course Hockey Hall of Fame
CN Tower
Royal Ontario Museum

Some thoughts off the top of my head. Also, if you like, take a stroll through the Royal York hotel, just next to the subway- talk about luxury!!!

Admission isn't too bad - 5 bucks or something like that. Parking is where they'll nail you. If possible park a couple blocks further out and you'll save a few dollars for sure.

My daughter loved Ripleys. The ROM is a good backup choice.

There any remnants of Maple Leaf Gardens or a museum in that Loblaws?

Toronto is one of my favorite cities in North America. We had many clients there, all of them downtown by Bay Street.

The tunnels or underground is amazing but fairly empty outside of business hours. A ton of great restaurants. Pretty much have your pick. The Hockey Hall of Fame is definitely worth a visit. The entertainment district is a lot of fun.

I liked the Royal York Hotel but for some reason always preferred the Sheraton on Queen Street.
