WASHINGTON — Attorney General Jeff Sessions is going after legalized marijuana. Sessions is rescinding a policy that had let legalized marijuana flourish without federal intervention across the country. That's according to two people with direct knowledge of the decision. They were not allowed to publicly discuss it before an announcement expected Thursday and spoke on condition of anonymity. The move will leave it to U.S. attorneys where pot is legal to decide whether to aggressively enforce federal marijuana law. The move likely will add to confusion about whether it's OK to grow, buy or use marijuana in states where it's legal, since long-standing federal law prohibits it. The decision comes days after California began selling recreational marijuana. Sessions compares marijuana to heroin and blames it for spikes in violence.

I don't smoke and I live in a Major Metropolitan Area where it has been legalized for some time (medical first, then recreational). I have never run into a violent pothead. Also, I don't think anybody has died from an "overdose" of marijuana. Put some drunk guys in a room, they'll get into a fight or vomit. Put some potheads in a room and they'll, like, solve the world's problems, man. Both sides of the government were split on the issue when it first came up. But a lot of people were won over by the income and especially the tax revenue it has generated. The company I work for sells Microbiology and Filtration equipment that can be used in refinement of cannabis. We've targeted certain areas where it's legal and have been successful. So all the "jobs" that the White House likes to brag about: ending legalized marijuana would kill a lot of jobs. I know, I know: "they shuld of gottun jobs doing sumthing respectaful (sic)" I was extremely skeptical of legalization when it was first on the ballot. But it's made people money and has also made them happy. I have no problems with it, now. Light it up. Some need guns. Some need pot.

Leave it to that fuckhead to try... (I don't use it, but agreed that I have never met someone that got angry after smoking it)

If a marijuana user was driving an auto and got into an accident, how can they determine if he was driving under the influence since THC can remain in your system for 30 days? Blood alcohol content can be measured by a breathalyzer when the cop pulls you over. Is there a way to measure blood THC content? If so, is it as quick, reliable, and non-invasive as a breathalyzer is for measuring BAC? Without this sort of testing being available, I would think that: a) Drivers who last smoked pot a week ago could wrongly be convicted of driving under the influence simply because the cop could smell pot on the driver's clothes b) Legitimately stoned people who shouldn't be driving are not convicted for driving under the influence simply because the state can't prove that the stoner was high at the time of the accident. Personally, I have no issues if a person wants to smoke pot, smoke crack, inject heroin, etc. in the privacy of his own home as long as the person: 1) can afford his vice without harming others (such as stealing to support his drug habit or being unemployable due to his drug habit) 2) his vice doesn't cause harm to anyone else (such as being a bad parent to his kids) 3) doesn't expect others to cover any expenses related to his vice (for example, health insurance / Medicaid / taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for treatment if he develops heart failure due to years of cocaine abuse or to pay for drug rehabilitation) 4) does his vice in the privacy of his own home and does not venture into public while under the influence Last edited on Fri Jan 5th, 2018 07:54 am by Big Garea Fan |

Mah state laws? I wonder if California or someone else will say that they will outright use that tax $$$ for funding the police. That would be a game changer ![]()

After reading ICE directors comments, now this, I really don't think there's any intent behind these things. They're just red meat for the fucking dumb shits in Trump's base. They don't even need to follow through; the fact that they're pronouncing these things is what they've wanted all along. To hear what they want to hear. Do I foresee the fucking FEDS cracking down on legal pot in CA, WA, OR, CO? HAHAHAHA...sure thing. Also, reason #1 why this will not be effective: WELL-OFF WHITE PEOPLE SMOKE POT.

I last smoked post in 1991. However, I have no issue with it. 3 guys I know who support Trump and smoke all told me that Donald is cool with weed. Well, let's see. I agree with Dan though. I doubt they will do anything. Still, it makes life much more unpredictable. I swear to God that Sessions was separated at birth from the Keebler Elf.

The funniest thing about Trump supporters is that they don't seem to have any idea what his beliefs are. Could Trump possibly have made it more clear that he is NOT at all cool with weed? Everyone has been bracing for this since his campaign rhetoric. This is like the illegals who supported Trump and then were shocked to find themselves being deported.

Have a friend in Montana, who said in 2016: "I blame our current president (Obama) for the abundance of medicinal marijuana stores in our otherwise clean neighborhood". I think one reason they're going after legal marijuana is simply the fact that it (mostly) became legal during Obama's Reign of Terror. Had a clean energy alternative been developed then, you can bet the current administration would target it. Colorado's medicinal marijuana was voted in, the same time as George W. Bush was elected in 2000. The medicinal law was kinda' bullshit. I knew people who had extremely mild back pain...and they got a prescription for marijuana. Like: "wow, my back is sore after gardening. I'll go to the doctor and get a pot prescription". 100% true story. Since recreational legalization in 2014, things have been fine and that sort of faux "medicinal" stuff has been cut back. There are still people who seriously need pot for dealing with ailments, though. They don't do it to get a high; they need it. There's been a slight increase in tourism, too. Last summer I was walking home from a baseball game, downtown, and some guy got out of a cab and asked: "hey, where are all the POT SHOPS?!" He was a little disappointed that they all had regular business hours and had been closed for a few hours. I directed him to a few good breweries. Personally, I don't like the sensation of smoking, in general. Regular cigarettes, cigars, cloves, whatever. Just not into the hot n' smoky feeling it gives my mouth. Prefer the coolness of beer. Also, I've yet to see a dingy/rat-infested or dilapidated pot shop. I expected them all to look like comic book stores or thrift shops, but they're usually nice n' clean and the buildings are well maintained. Spoken with some City Council members and State Senators and they're all for it, too.

They have all the pot shops right outside the commercial areas, usually in areas populated mostly by warehouses. It's absolutely ridiculous but it's almost like they want a crime uptick and employees and customers to be targeted. Still, the place looked fine. Had a large waiting area where you had to show your ID to a security guard, who was the friendliest security guard I've ever encountered. They only let 2 or 3 customers in at one time. When someone left, I was able to enter the shop itself, which was a really small room with mostly edibles displayed under glass. One clerk was going into great detail explaining strains to another customer, and the 2nd clerk answered my questions about edibles and how to legally drive back to the hotel with it (I put it in the trunk although I'm told I could've put the package in the backseat if it was unopened). It was great customer service and these guys were huge pot-geeks who could talk about this stuff like we talk about wrestling for hours. Anyway, I promptly ignored the dosage amount that I had been told and assumed that it wasn't working, like every newbie, and then got sky-high for a dinner at the Denver Chophouse where I definitely feel like the pot helped that steak taste amazing.

A little bit before bed and he's out in 20 minutes now, before he'd have severe insomnia that would keep him up all night and affected his work. Who the fuck cares why someone needs it? The doctor actually said to him with a straight face to try Ambien, which has ridiculously severe side effects, including complete blackouts. But he wouldn't prescribe him pot without a bullshit back injury.

How are the Republicans going to square government non-interference, states rights, and personal liberty, with a President wanting to ban all three?

If you don’t think they can, you don’t know Republicans. They’re already saying he’s doing the right thing by enforcing the law and forcing Congress’ hand to federally legalize. But this Congress will never do that.
