In the wake of her Golden Globes speech on Sunday, those placing bets on 2020, rank Winfrey’s odds at assuming the Oval Office second only to President Trump.

While Trump sits at 28.2 percent, Winfrey is at 8.5 percent — a full 2.8 percent climb in just one day.

Winfrey’s 8.5 percent places her above every named Democrat, including Senators Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders, who sit at 6.4 percent, 5.8 percent, and 5.0 percent, respectively. Lagging even further behind are former Vice President Joe Biden at 3.0 percent and former First Lady Michelle Obama with 2.9 percent.

Hillary Clinton, who has twice run for president and lost, is given only the odds of 1.6 percent. Senator Cory Booker is little better at just 1.9 percent.

I really hope we can get back to normalcy in 2020, but I fear there is no such thing anymore.  Politics has turned into entertainment to distract the masses while the real power-brokers destroy us behind the scenes.

No chance that Oprah wins over the Rock.

Just curious, if the economy remains red hot, ISIS isn't really a threat, illegal crossings remain at an all time low, and real estate soars, what will her platform be? I'm guessing White privilege, homophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny? That usually stirs up certain demographics.

I think an interesting topic to watch will be if Ryan et al, try to make cuts to SS. Since most of the people in this country have no chance to be financially secure at retirement, a lot will cling to whatever supplement they get through SS. Any real challenge to that scrap will cause issues.

Ryan is way too smart for that.  SS is a mess and a great Republican talking point, but there has never been a serious effort to reform it by Republicans.

To be fair, the Presidency isn't that important. It's the PR chap or chapess for the nation. The real work is done in the Senate and Congress.

Not so much anymore since first Cheney and then Obama expanded executive powers a hundredfold.

I think this 'bump' for Oprah is because of her speech the other night but 6-12 months from now, someone else will be the frontrunner in the eyes of the public and the party members and even that person will be temporary

I love the part where Trump says that “style and class” are important for a president.

No one will ever convince me that Trump doesn’t have dementia or some other mental problem. If you listen to that whole clip, he’s still Trump but he’s a fairly reasonable Trump. I always thought he was s bright, well-spoken, reasonable guy for decades, even when I didn’t agree with him. It’s not like he was a young man there. No one changes their character they much at that age without something being wrong. Even his mannerisms and tone of voice are so different.  He’s incapable of having a real conversation now.  His mental health is absolutely going to come to light one day, even if it’s after he’s dead, and I find the whole thing sad for him more than anything else. A sane Trump could’ve been reasonably good, although he might not have been elected because his base prefers loons.
