You tell me whether you agree with this 'slant' or not

Job situation - better
Stock market - better
Tax Cut - good
Retailers - reported great Christmas sales
ISIS - almost a non-factor now

I don't believe christmas was a good one other than for Amazon. If it was good Sams Club, Kmart, Sears, Pennys, and Macys would not be closing stores. Unemployment should go up due to these closings.

If things are better for y'all down there, it's kind of a shame that Trump's shenanigans have distracted most people from them.

Slants being slants in politics and the media I imagine you can look at everything and come up with the opposite viewpoint rather easily. But really he's done himself a disservice going to war with the media if the things beej listed are "true".

He has not done a GREAT job. There's enough negatives to keep it from being "great". But what he's done as far as a worker President goes has been top notch. I am beginning to think he runs his mouth to this extent to keep the focus on him and his personality instead of the work he's trying to put through. Because, if the news started debating every move he was trying to make, it could sway things in a different direction.

OK - what's worse?  Trump calling Haiti a "shithole country", or khawk calling every Asian politician a "slant".

And what Beej said is totally true, everything he's done is working.  I'm wondering about the long term effects of the tax cut though because our deficit isn't slowing down and unless he curbs the spending from within it's just going to make it worse by cutting taxes.

Other than the tax cuts, how does Trump get credit for any of this?

The job situation is what it is, steadily improving for many years but much worse under both Obama and Trump than really reported.

The stock market is too good and I keep saying this.  The next crash is going to be even more horrific than in 2008.  We've learned nothing.  A sign of a stable economy are realistic stock valuations, not this overly-manipulated bullshit where stock prices have no relation to performance.

What the hell has Trump done in regards to ISIS?  They have been almost gone for years aside from what amounts to some PR stunts, but the Middle East situation is less stable than ever before.  Is anyone paying attention to what's happening in Iran right now?  If you've followed history even a little bit, including what happened right after the Arab Spring, you know this will end badly.

And this isn't taking into account the North Korea debacle, which is a very serious situation no matter how much Americans want to laugh at them.  Trump gets an F in foreign relations even if you want to credit him for the economy.

So yeah, this is far from a GREAT job.  The best thing he's done is roll back regulations to pre-'90s levels and cutting taxes.  Businesses are responding in a bit of a phony way here, extending exaggerated praise on him and making big monetary gestures to employees just to show that "it's working" in the hopes that Trump and future presidents will continue this pattern.  Although I agree with this, I also recognize the bullshit and am amused by it.

So as far as substantive issues go, he gets one point with that.  That's far from a GREAT job since many economic issues are being ignored with spending and debt still totally out of control, foreign policy is a disaster, and his social stances are archaic.

It's been like watching a game of Russian (haw!) Roulette where every chamber has a bullet yet somehow the shooter keeps grazing himself versus blowing out his brains.

Been entertaining as hell from the outside, kind of re-confirms beliefs that America is a giant clown-car at heart.

I'm not too well versed on the stock market, but it does seem a little too good. Let me ask, are the companies doing well to justify the high prices? I do remember the dot.com craze in the 90s. They were outrageously high without even turning a profit.

I do know real estate, at least the Chicago market. The market has gone up, but nothing insane. In some neighborhoods and suburbs, the prices have finally rebounded from the crash. Luckily, I invested when the market crashed.

Funny, many "experts" warned that we'd be facing a Depression similar to 1929 if Trump won. In fairness, I don't really remember what Rossi said before the election regarding the economy. Well, now that the opposite happened, the narrative is that it's the Obama economy.

I don't know if I said anything about the economy in general but I've been saying the same thing about the stock market for years: the other shoe is going to drop again.  I'm almost completely out of the stock market (as far as my individual brokerage account goes, I still have to rely on it for my pension, IRA, and 401(k), of course, which is scary enough).  Everyone here knows I went into cryptocurrency instead, and I'm looking at rental properties.  I've certainly missed out on some of this run-up, and I might miss out on more, but it's going to crash hard again, whether that's in 3 months or 3 years.  I don't think it can sustain this much longer than that.

There is no President that can single-handedly cause a Depression.  The original one didn't happen because of Hoover, even though he was a dipshit ill-equipped to handle it.  It happened because of an unsustainable run-up and average Americans having no sense of real value, just like what we saw in the '90s and just like what's going to happen again very soon.  It will have nothing to do with Obama or Trump or the next puppet.
