Mock all you want, but when trench mouth was confined to certain elements, well, the trains ran on time.

This shit didn't happen regularly HERE until around 30 years ago. So what changed in 30 years?

Glorification of violence / thuggery:
Increased violence in media (TV, movies, music, etc)
Video games (Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, etc)

Changes in family dynamic:
More single parent homes (children alone more often)
Children have less social interaction (spend more time alone in their rooms w/ their computers)
Increased stress on adults and kids due to: school (gotta get good grades to go to college, bullying), work (employers pushing employees for greater productivity at all costs, less time with family), economy (gotta make more money, job insecurity)
Many parents put their individualism and want to be buddies with their kids instead of being parents. Many parents are in denial that there is something wrong with their kid.

People are much less civil to each other than they used to be.

Communities used to be much more close knit and your neighbors would have no problem with reporting you to your parents if you did something wrong or taking care of it themselves. Now many people don't even know who their neighbors are or will tell the neighbor to f*#k off even though their kid was in the wrong.

Less respect for authority figures (politicians, police, teachers, etc)
Why should kids listen to the "people in charge" when they constantly see these authority figures doing bad things on the news? (police shooting innocent people, teachers sleeping with students or getting busted with drugs, politicians involved in countless scandals and ignoring important issues such as school shootings, etc).

my Dad hardly spoke to us growing up , my parents were never home , we pretty much spent the whole day alone , summer was 3 months of anything goes, there was tons of violence , we were always fighting, the streets were tougher cause people were on them, not many fights in their parents basements nowadays, kids are coddled too much now and don't grow up cause they don't have to , a lot of their heroes are losers

Do you have some violent movies and video games that we don't get in the rest of the world?

social interaction is a big difference, nobody walks to school, they all get dropped of by their parents, the whole neighborhood gets bogged down as they are lining up to drop their kids off at the door, can't get out of the car 100 meters away , only social interaction is looking at their phones, no-one to talk to , even the losers back then had groups of losers to hang out with , lot easier to be a kid when there are other kids around you effing up

I also wonder if there isn't some sort of "nature" issue that is affecting the emotional / mental state of the people committing these violent acts. Back when I was a kid (30 years ago), I didn't know of any kids that had peanut allergies and there weren't Epi-pens posted in the hallways for emergencies. Nowadays, many schools are now "nut-free facilities" and kids are no longer allowed to bring any nut products to school. Epi-pens are now posted in bright yellow "Break in case of emergency" boxes in the hallways. What has caused peanut allergies to become so prevalent? Pesticides? Food Additives? Environmental agents? Better science is detecting previously undetected peanut allergies? Is it all just bullshit?

Peanut allergies are just one example, I am sure there are others (increased autism rates, increased birth defects, etc) despite advancements in medicine. What is causing all of this? Could it also be affecting the emotional / mental state of people - especially teens whose immature brains are still developing?

could be , but used to be when you mouthed off the person standing nearest to you , buddy, pal, Dad, Grandma, would just haul off and drop you , you learn faster that way

Sorry - I am not a very worldly person so I am not sure what is available or happening in other parts of the world. I can only speak to what I see happening in my community.

The increase in gun violence is commensurate with the rise in popularity of rap music. Perry Como wouldn't have stood for this shit.

The answer is no you don't. That, along with all your other excuses, are common themes across the entire developed world. But somehow, people in these other countries aren't continuously shooting each other. More people die from accidental discharges in the USA that from deliberate shootings in any other country, and that is per capita, adjusted for the USA's large population.

You really believe that has something to do with it. Most of the shooters are white males and I doubt that they listen to rap music. Today's rap music is more about money and women and less about gang violence and these school shootings aren't gang related.

I'm far from being a wigga. In fact I can't stand them. But let's be honest. Just look at the facts to see for yourself. Rap music of early 90's glorified gang violence that type of music has changed a lot. Most of these shooters are racist white guys who have some affiliation to nationalist groups. Dylan Roof who is white shot up a black church. Doesn't seem thug like to me.
