If I want to sell my body for for money -- what exactly is wrong with that?

Or if I wanted to purchase sex from someone who was selling it -- is there really any harm?

I can watch an adult movie, and there are people being paid to have sex. Ok, they are technically 'actors and actresses' but that's a joke and everyone knows it.

I know there is some legal  loophole that allows the production of porn movies but technically they are selling their bodies for money. If I recall it used to be illegal to make porn movies but selling them was legal.

This has always been bizarre to me.  In both prostitution and porn, you are having sex for money.  But the introduction of a video camera to sell sex on a wider level makes it legal.  This is why the idea of laws is a joke.  It's so subjective and changes wildly over time.

In the meantime, Memorial Day just passed which means I'm reading my first stories of the year about kids' lemonade stands getting shut down under threat of massive fines and incarceration of the parents.  Law and order strikes again!

Possibly porn is legal because both parties are being paid?

But if you're making an actual porn movie meant for profit don't you also to have the the proper permits or authorization to do so in whatever jurisdiction it's being filmed? I was under the impression that somehow it has to be "sanctioned" to not be considered illegal or underground.

If you’re doing it for-profit, it has to be licensed. Just about anything does. In most cities you can’t run any business out of your home without a license even if you’re just doing accounting or hair-braiding or something. You need your professional license AND your home-based license.  Because of gubment.

90% of porn is amateur since the rise of the Internet, and certainly some of them are finding ways to profit discreetly, and of course most of the sites themselves are getting ad revenue or something off every click.

Easy. It's much HOTTER if you're doing something you're not supposed to. Legalize prostitution and suddenly the thrill goes away (or substantially decreases) for the local politician; business leader; celebrity; athlete; average Joel etc.

Paying $5 for a handy behind a taco stand at 1am is much hotter than paying $5 for a handy at the cash register, around front, at 1pm.

Prostitution is illegal because if they legalize it then politicians can no longer use tax payers dollars to pay for it.

A very long time ago it became illegal because religious leaders wanted all the hot bitches to themselves.
