This is a pretty weak group to choose from, with some re-treads that weren't elected before and might make it now.

- Def Leppard
- Devo
- Janet Jackson
- John Prine (who?)
- Kraftwerk
- LL Cool J
- MC5
- Radiohead
- Rage Against the Machine
- Roxy Music (who?)
- Stevie Nicks
- The Cure
- Todd Rundgren
- Rufus & Chaka Khan
- The Zombies

I'd give my vote to MC5 and Rage.  Given the lack of real rock acts, I'll go with Def Leppard too, although I've never thought of them as HOF worthy despite being a fan.

I love Stevie Nicks but come on, why does she deserve to go in solo instead of just with Fleetwood Mac?  Todd Rundgren I just don't get at all, but he's popular in some circles I know.

How many acts are inducted? I can't see how Radiohead or The Cure don't make the cut.

I've always loved me some Stevie, but this recent implosion of the Fleetwood Mac lineup minus Lindsay has left a rather sour taste in my mouth.

Is Stevie to blame for the split?? There are conflicting reports. But, based on her solo material I would consider her borderline HOF-worthy.

They usually go with about 6 inductees, every year, and try to cover all genres. So going with that, I'll predict:

-Devo (Mark Mothersbaugh's body of work is impressive...and he's basically the band)
-LL Cool J (to be "down" with those kids who like the rap hop... or NCIS: LA)
-Rage Against the Machine or Radiohead (one, but not both, to cover the 90's)
-Roxy Music (critical fave and they'd cover the 70's genre)
-Todd Rundgren (another critical fave, but they'd probably play up his "multimedia" stuff of the 90's as showing how "diverse" he is)
-The Zombies (cuz' oldsters love British Invasion stuff)

Funnily enough they'd be the only one on the list - other than MC5 - I'd vote for.  They started as glam rock and morphed via art rock into sophisticated synthpop.  Were quite influential.  Lead singer Bryan Ferry boned Jerry Hall when she was hot.

Def Leppard and Stevie Nicks are running away with the fan vote.  They basically have as many votes as every other act on the list combined.  MC5, for the 2nd year in a row, is receiving no fan support and that's just sad.

The MC5 was ahead of their time and had a lot of influence on acts that followed. However, apart from "Kick Out the Jams", they are an act most people know little about and I'd even venture that more people know the name of that song than have actually heard it. They put out three albums in their late 1960s/early 1970s run and didn't get any commercial success, not even a Top 40 single that still gets oldies or classic rock radio play. They're a mystery to most people, the band you've possibly heard of and are told is important, but which you haven't listened to. It should not be surprising that they're not getting many fan votes.

Just his production credits alone are enough for Rundgren to be in the HOF.

Quoted for truth. The rest aside from Stevie Nicks because I'd still like to bang her(again), can for all intents and purposes fuck off.

Rossi, why would you consider rage HOF worthy and not DL? Def Leppard have them on album sales, ticket sales, longevity, etc. Damn, DL have TWO albums that have gone Diamond Platinum, i bet you can count the number of bands that have pulled that off on one hand..

Ok, I just looked it up. Rock and Roll bands with multiple Diamond platinum original (not Live or Greatest hits) albums are:

The Beatles
Pink Floyd
Van Halen
Def Leppard

To really have this debate you’d have to blow up then existing HOF and start over because I couldn’t tell you what makes a HOF band here. Commercial success and even longevity seems to mean nothing, except when it means everything. It’s a pointless exercise to argue for or against any band, no different than wondering why Koko B. Ware is in the WWE HOF. To me, as a Def Leppard fan, they don’t meet my criteria as just feeling like a HOF band. Motley Crue meant more to the genre for anyone growing up in the early ‘80s (it’s hard to believe now but early Crue was taken as seriously as a brain tumor back then), and Def Lep never had the credibility and steer cred of Iron Maiden as far as NWOBHM bands go. They always seemed to be second to someone, but there’s no doubt they sold albums.

It’s probably just because they hate the po-po.
