OK, you won't catch me extolling the virtues of Obamacare but the fact is that the R's couldn't pass a replacement plan when they had full control. Even when they voted to NOT repeal, they did not have a replacement ready. So, now Trump will rely on the 5th Circuit to knock it down and the Supreme Court to affirm. I think there is a better than 50% chance he will prevail. Insurance firms will again be able to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Recent polls have pre-existing coverage being supported by 90% of Americans! He just scored a huge win on Mueller. I really cannot believe he thinks this is a good idea. Worse yet for him, many of those affected are lower information voters who tend to not vote much. This may motivate them. I cannot imagine those in the GOP in competitive races are going to be thrilled about this. Why is he doing this especially since they have no plan of their own? What is the motivation? I am affected by this since I am in the individual market. My plan sucks but it is all I have.

Is this a repeat? I thought he already vowed that only to fail miserbly? He said it would be easy and they'd give us all something that was better, bigger, and free, where if anyone gets colon cancer a unicorn will shove their horn up your ass and you'll be cured and shit dollar bills for the next month.

I have trouble keeping up, so they ended the mandate right? If you don't get Obamacare, you're no longer penalized at the end of the year? If they did that, then I'm OK for now. That was the part that really pissed me off. Health care is a mess and it'll take someone a lot smarter than Trump to figure it out.

Are you on it? I am. $980 a month for me, my wife and 1 daughter. The other is now on a much better plan through her college which I pay for. We have a deductible of $7400 per person with $14800 family limit. So, yes. It sucks. However, the R's have basically offered nothing to replace it with except for , "well we will see". When the tried to repeal it, that included the repeal of pre-existing conditions being covered. Now, maybe there is a better idea of how to handle that. Fine. Again, the GOP basically offered nothing except some pie in the sky thing that had zero chance of working. What really pissed me off was from Sept to early Nov when Trump was claiming the GOP tried to protect those with pre-existing conditions. He lied with great enthusiasm. That caused a lot of people to vote - the other way. They are playing with fire. Now, maybe it will all work out for him. What do I know? I do know that was a fucking lie. Edit - the response was to MJ. Last edited on Wed Mar 27th, 2019 07:09 pm by Ultimark |

No, I"m on regular insurance through my work that SUCKS now because once Obamacare kicked in, we lost all our good coverage and now I pay $200 a month for just me for shitty insurance. Before Obamacare kicked in, I paid $100 a month, had IIRC a $2500 deductible (it may have been less, but $2500 is what I remember) and a $20 copay for every doctor visit. Now I pay $200 a month for a $5000 deductible and no copay so basically I pay $200 a month for the privilege of paying every doctor visit out my pocket 100% until the $5k deductible kicks in. My late wife worked here with me so she had the same insurance, the last 3 years of her life we basically started each year $5k in the hole because of her health issues... 5 years ago I had a kidney stone that was 5mm, the largest you could have that could physically be passed. This shitty insurance was so bad I suffered a month with it just popping percoset non-stop hoping to pass it because I couldn't afford the $5k deductible at the time.. I'd like to punch Obama in the face every time I hear that "If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it!" line replayed.. I still have the picture of the cancellation saved in my FB photos from the night I got it to show my Obama-sucking friend that he was full of it when he said "you'll be able to keep your good insurance".. ![]() Last edited on Wed Mar 27th, 2019 08:16 pm by Married Jo ____________________ Well, Im of the opinion that one wouldnt actually have to eat the corn out of Chynas shit to know that nothing good could come of it. - Portalesman |

Everyone I know including myself at this point has company insurance in the form of an HSA with a company contribution. $6,000 deductible, no copay instead you pay cash price doctor visits. I don’t take any medications but I heard if you shop around and use some of those different apps you can find them cheaper at times I wish I would have been on an HSA 19 years ago by now I’d have a pile of cash a mile high in my account instead of nothing to show for the premiums I paid and never went to the doctor. I'm on Obamacare(Called Covered California here) and I would be screwed without it.I pay 177 dollars a month for healthcare (should go lower later on) . I am retired , age 60. I have heart and kidney problems. In February I had an infected foot and had to stay in hospital for 3 days. The bill was over 19,000.00. I only paid a little over 600.00. I would be in deep shit without Obamacare. Last edited on Wed Mar 27th, 2019 09:37 pm by Benlen ____________________ Only thing harder than achieving excellence is maintaining it. Dream Well. I don’t take any medications but I heard if you shop around and use some of those different apps you can find them cheaper at timesIn the last year, I have saved $850 using Goodrx. Some of my meds cost a lot. It has really helped. What I found out is that Goodrx and the others facilitate deals between the middle men and the pharmacy's. I also found out that some Pharmacists will tell you to go pound sand. I found one coupon for my most expensive med that saved me $260 with Walmart. This bitch pharmacist calls me and tells me she won't honor the coupon. I ask why and she tells me that it doesn't work for her margins. I explain that Walmart entered into the agreement. She then tells me to transfer my prescription. This was the first time I ever used Walmart. I tell her no and that she will live up to this. There is a number for her to call. She gives me the script at the price but only for 30, not 90. Now, I use Walgreens and pay just a little more than I would with Walmart. Still saving about $230 per script for 90 pills. It really does add up.

It does vary though. One one med, I save about $40. Still, it is real money.

I hope you still have coverage next year. You are the type at risk.

Obamacare was created as and is still the path to the single-payer system. At the time, I said they passed something so unsustainable that over time, single-payer would be the only viable options once the lower class got used to free insurance and the upper class was tired of being raped to pay for health care costs. And wouldn't you look at who is winning this pony?

Trump backed off because people in his own party told him it was a political loser. So, he will wait until he is reelected.

Health care is a tough one. I have good coverage but I have a government plan. I see friends who are musicians who have a tough time with things.
