Here is one if the reviews out there: https://nypost.com/2019/07/23/tarantinos-once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood-bungles-ending/ I like most of Tarantino’s stuff, but this movie was not really a hit with me. The ending was way awkward, and I am not sure what final plot was trying to explain. What did any if you think? I’m a super Tarantino fan but this is the first one I’ll miss in the theaters. I’m looking forward to seeing it when it comes to video. I’d be surprised if I don’t like it.

I will be eager to hear your take on it. I will leave you all with your special girls. They used this song in the Manson TV series and use it, again, in this movie. https://youtu.be/5bosZabtMxw

Awesome movie but if you don't know who Sharon Tate or The Manson Family are you will be lost. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are perfect in this. Great chemistry between the two. Leo puts on a acting clinic in this. He might be nominated for a Oscar for this. Brad is great here too. A total cool badass. This is definitely a guy movie. It's very politically incorrect. It takes place in 1969. It's about 3 days in the life of Leo, and brad's character's and Sharon tate played by Margot robbie. Leo is a actor who is on the downside of his career and pitt plays his stuntman whose career is also in the crapper. And Leo just happens to live next door to roman Polanski and Sharon tate who was murdered by the manson family. there are also cameo's by "Bruce Lee " and "Steve Mcqueen". ![]() it's a long movie . It's a hang out movie where you spend three days with these people. If you want non stop action and violence you will be disappointed. There is about 10 min of violence in the movie. Its extreme violence though.lol But the movie is funny, suspenseful and sad and it has a kickass soundtrack. Last edited on Mon Aug 19th, 2019 02:14 am by Spatulapup |

I know the story very well, and that is what makes this movie somewhat of a downer for me. Did I miss something with the awkward ending? I like the movie but it was a middle of the pack Tarantino movie. Leo was great and Pitt had a few intense moments.

It was not a terrible movie by any means, but it also did not come off as a smash hit. I would say leading up to the 45 minutes/ half hour I enjoyed the movie. I did not know where it was going then after we got to the end it left me thinking, “What was the main plot here?” I think there were several subplots in the movie.....the Hippies, the changing culture, the changes in the entertainment business, etc. But the main plot? Not sure?

I have seen it twice and it's become my favorite Tarrantino movie by far. Leo deserves the Oscar, he's spectacular in this. I love your description as a hang out movie, that's exactly what it is. This was the first movie as far back as I can remember where I just got sucked into it and enjoyed everything for the moment and wasn't looking for the next big payoff....each time it ended I was sad it was over..

My wife took me to see this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was wrapped up much more in the subplots (the washed up actor trying to revive his career, Brad Pitt's badass character, the 60s counterculture, the changing times) than I was in the plots. I thought the acting was great, and the even the absurd moments made me laugh because it's Hollywood.

The acting was very good. Maybe award-winning....I don’t know. I just think the change-of-history ending did not do anything for me. Definitely not my favorite Tarantino film in regards to overall appeal. It had some great dynamics but lacked in other areas. btw, I had to laugh a week or so after the movie came out, some verified Asian woman writer on Twitter was saying the movie was racist toward Asians because of how he treated Bruce Lee in it then she said "never mind the most troublesome part of the movie, the violence towards women in it.." I mean, there was almost no violence in the movie and when the violence did happen it was so over the top but so perfect for the payoff..and the violence towards women, well, those women deserved it..and anyone with half a lick of common sense would agree..

So see it in the theater while you still can. The soundtrack, the look, everything about this movie makes it even better to see it on a big screen..
