I had hoped to see this movie, but had no concrete plans until a wash out rainy Sunday on its opening weekend provided the opportunity. I enjoyed it tremendously and recommend it. Srossi, what is your objection to seeing it in a theater? I agree with Married Jo that you should catch this while you can. The ending was shockingly unexpected, but it played into the title, "Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood". This is a fairy tale and in fairy tales, unlike real life, anything and everything is possible. The real world and history don't matter. It took me a moment after it all went down to get it, but that title card hit home immediately. There has been a lot of criticism over Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate not having as much dialogue or as much to do within the story as Leonard DiCaprio's Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth. I find that criticism to be groundless and has more to do with people having this opinion wanting to see a different movie than the Tarantino created. This is a movie about the key moment in Sharon Tate's life and we get a look at her leading a peaceful, normal life in advance of this particular event, but this is a movie about Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth. It isn't about Sharon Tate.

"Once upon a time.....in Hollywood"...in Hollywood and movies you can do anything, including for those 3 hours change history for the better...Spatulapup wrote:Awesome movie but if you don't know who Sharon Tate or The Manson Family are you will be lost. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are perfect in this. Great chemistry between the two. Leo puts on a acting clinic in this. He might be nominated for a Oscar for this. Brad is great here too. A total cool badass. This is definitely a guy movie. It's very politically incorrect. It takes place in 1969. It's about 3 days in the life of Leo, and brad's character's and Sharon tate played by Margot robbie. Leo is a actor who is on the downside of his career and pitt plays his stuntman whose career is also in the crapper. And Leo just happens to live next door to roman Polanski and Sharon tate who was murdered by the manson family. there are also cameo's by "Bruce Lee " and "Steve Mcqueen". Okay, that may explain the twist, and I can dig that. The violence at the end was definitely Tarantino putting his thumbprint on the movie, but it seemed a bit forced to get it included. It was definitely not a waste of money, but it just was not one of my favorites of his. Maybe it will grow on me over time.

I don't really miss it as my home viewing experience isn't much worse than the theater experience with the equipment I have, and if I make plans to go out I'd rather it be for a concert or something I can't replicate at home.

But the violence at the end was the entire payoff of the movie..everything you saw before was a build up for just that scene..and why it was basically a "Once upon a time..." kind of movie. He got to change history, for the best...people were literally cheering that scene in the theater both times I saw it lol...

Like I said, I knew why it was there, but it did not work for me. That violence was building during the entire movie....nah....I did not see or feel that. Maybe for Dalton. No cheering in my theater. You knew who was going to win. 😀😀😀 There was no surprise there. The change history part was the thing that I keyed on or a “what if” the Manson crowd would have went to the wrong house. That angle worked for me in regards to a plot. I think there was also some connection between the injuries that occurred to the Manson tribe and what was said earlier in the movie.

i am amazed that there are people online who have a problem with how the manson women are treated in the movie. dont get me wrong i am against violence against women but this was the manson family!!!!!!!! all bets are off with those people. there are women online who think Tarantino hates women and they are using it as another example of it. they are actually complaining that the women in the movie snore when they sleep.lol
