That's a haunting song.  It's so sad it's beautiful.

Gordon Lightfoot has a few good but haunting songs.  Moody Blues also some very haunting tunes.

Maybe we need a thread on “Haunting Tunes”.  😆😆😆

Oh wow. this thread could go on for awhile.

I'll just post one right now.

"Crime Scene Part One" By The Afghan Whigs....One Sunday morning at my place my girlfriend, who had to go home to her place that day, got out of bed, took a shower, and got dressed. Then, unknown to me, she took a shitload of benzodiazepines, anti-depressants, and some other meds. Afterwards, she crawled back into bed with me and curled up beside me as I was asleep.

It's hard to get through that song, but it's definitely on point.

Definitely a great one.  A lot of fun to play on guitar too.

The lyrics about the father never being around for his son since he was always away for work and then his son not being there for him when he gets older sadden me and are a sad commentary on the state of today's society.

"Lost Soul" by Bruce Hornsby & The Range. A powerful song about the dreadful feelings of loneliness and depression

Cats in the Cradle should be listened to for every soon to be dad. Very powerful.
Even though I had a pretty good relationship with my dad, "In the Living Years" still moves me.
I cannot listen to "Tears in Heaven" without a mental image of some little boy falling out of his window to his death. I turn that song off.

I wouldn't go as far as saying I turn the song off, but I admit it's sometimes hard to listen to Tears In Heaven as a Clapton fan and knowing the true story.

Cats In The Cradle is a masterpiece imo.

Whenever my son asks me to do/play something with him, and I’m exhausted from a long day, I ALWAYS immediately think of cats in the cradle, and automatically I have the strength to do anything he wants

Funny story...my best friend has a half brother and when they were younger (and MTV was still playing videos) every time "The Living Years" would come on, my friend would always tell his brother that everyone dies, including his dad. It would send his little brother into a crying fit every time

A woman OD'ing on benzos in your bed is nothing that a hacksaw and some hydrofluoric acid can't solve.  Everyone was just fine. Now stop asking questions.

I guess I should have proofread my post. I should have said that it was a suicide attempt. Long story short, I found out in short order, grabbed her, dragged her to the bathroom and forced her to throw up. She was fucked up, but she survived. Thankfully she has gone on to live a happy and productive life. I still have a bit of resentment towards her for putting me in that situation.
It definitely would have been an awkward conversation with my Dad if I had to explain why my girlfriend was dead in my bedroom.

No more awkward then all the times I had to explain to the cops why there was a dead hooker in my car trunk.
