Panorama is a cool album.
Also, I was a kid during the Heartbeat City/MTV era and loved the video for You Might Think.

Panorama is the most New Wave-y of The Cars albums and is either adored or gets an uninterested shrug.  My favorite would be Candy O.  Just a great band in so many ways.

Was never a new wave fan at all but The Cars had a couple of songs I liked.  Glad that Ric got to be inducted into the HOF before dying.

These things are supposed to come in 3s, so with Ocasio and Eddie Money dying, I'd say there are a lot of aging rock stars who better be careful this week.

I will never be able to think about Ric Ocasek without thinking about Phoebe Cates' tits in Fast Times...

LOVED the Cars..they were one of my favorite bands growing up, I have a lot of their early 80's albums on vinyl. In fact, Ric working with Weezer probably is what sold me on them when they debuted, I loved Buddy Holly but heard he produced their album and bought it for that, now they're one of my favorite bands as well...

I look at The Cars similar to the way I look at ZZ Top. When they were coming up they were amazing. I worked a show at the Palladium in 1978 with The Cars as the opener and Cheap Trick headlining. Both band were extremely hungry and left nothing on stage. After things started getting better, The Cars, like ZZ Top put away their original sound and went for a broader commercial appeal. Both bands were right to do this as it exploded them into elite level touring groups for a while. Like everyone else I had no idea Ocasek was 75 years old. He led a good life it seems.

Wasn't a Cars fan in the 80's...but I didn't mind them when they were played on the local "Album-Oriented Rock radio".

Later, I figured Ocasek HAD to be cool, when I saw his name listed as "producer" on Bad Brains' Rock for Light album.

Saw The Cars, live, on a whim in...2011 or 2012.. and they were great. Usually I see a nostalgia act and kinda' wish I could just go home and watch old videos of their prime. But I didn't get that feeling upon seeing The Cars. Became a fan after that show. I even liked their new tune, "Sad Song" and got the (digital) album "Move Like This".
