I received my timberline 1300 last week and love it.

I’ve owned cars that cost less than that Grill. I moved out of my parents house 23 years ago and have owned three grills, and in total spent about a quarter of what you just did. I hope that you smoke many a pork shoulder in that beautiful fucker.

It was pricey for sure but I plan to make it last. We were talking about doing an outdoor kitchen but i wasn't sure how one would hold up to an Ohio winter.

I have been looking at buying a pellet grill after watching a bunch of BBQ Youtube videos (I am hooked on the videos by HowToBBQRight).
I have watched a lot of pellet grill review videos and scoured a lot of review websites. I have narrowed my search down to Traeger and Camp Chef. Did you consider any other brand/model? If so, what sold you on the Traeger that you purchased?

The biggest complaint that I have read about pellet grills is that they don't get hot enough to give you a really good sear when grilling meats. Has this been a problem for you?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I really wanted a green egg but but over time I lost interest as I thought the circular grill might cause some issues with racks of ribs and briskets. At that point I consulted a friend who is all about grilling and he turned me on to Yoder

https://www.yodersmokers.com/

The entire time i was researching traeger but wasn’t sure for the exact reasons you listed as I mainly grill steaks. After about 900 videos and multiple conversations with people who own a traeger I went for it. I didn’t need the 1300 but the next size down was only $200 cheaper and really once I was committed what was another $200?

So far I’ve grilled / smoked; Skirt steak for fajitas, chicken thighs, cedar plank salmon, rack of lamb, burgers and I kicked it off with some flat iron steaks. I’m going to smoke a brisket tomorrow and probably throw some ribeyes on Sunday.

Seriously though everything that has come off that thing has been amazing. I’m no pit master so it’s not because of me

PM me your email and I can send you some pictures of the ribeyes when I cook them.

The only negatives so far is this thing is a pellet eating monsters between those meals and a seasoning cycle I’ve already burned 30 pounds of pellets. Traeger brand pellets go for $18 per 20 pound bag.

Assembly was simple and it was packed extremely well

I just moved to Cincy a few weeks ago and after growing up in SoCal and then spending the last 4 years in Houston it’s pretty cold here

Hey Franchise where did you move?  I have lived just outside of Cincy my entire life. We actually had record high temps through September/first week of October before getting to normal Cincinnati October weather.
