I saw this and I was happy. Peter Luger's is an overrated tourist trap at this point, and the snootiest place I've ever been to. From making reservations to paying the bill, everything about this place is a complete chore with horrible staff.  And the quality of the steaks have gone downhill.  It's certainly not one of the top 20 steakhouses in NY anymore even if you're just talking about food quality.  I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Here the top steakhouse is debatable, but it probably is the Golden Ox https://www.goldenoxkc.com/. The pricing is reasonable for a higher end steakhouse.

My favorite steakhouse, albeit not a higher end one, is Dunston's on Lover's lane in Dallas http://www.dunstonssteakhouse.com/park-cities-location.html

My favorite steakhouse was the Bull and Bear in the Waldorf Astoria, but unfortunately the Waldorf is under renovation so it closed down and I don't think will reopen.

For an old school feel without the hassle, Delmonico's is still awesome. Blows away Peter Luger's.

I’ve been to the Houston Steak 48 a few times and enjoyed it but my palate isn’t refined enough to fully enjoy a $100 ribeye. I always leave feeling that the ones I get at Kroger and grill myself aren’t $85 dollars worse. I will say though that Steak 48 has a truffle baked potato that is amazing. I lack facial emotion most of my life and my wife and kids were shocked to see the uncontrollable joy in my face eating the potato.

Killen’s steak house is becoming a thing in the south Texas area but I’ve never been impressed. Always felt like a waste of money when we have gone.

I loved my meal at Old Homestead.  And from the time we walked in until the time we left, it was first class all the way.  Keen's was great but I can't really grade it fairly - I've only eaten their Mutton Chop so I don't know about their steaks.

I went in the early 80's the first time and you were basically brainwashed into thinking there was nothing better on earth. I mean it was good, but the level of pretension, no menu, a relatively limited selection just kinda stuck in my craw. When I went about ten years ago it just wasn't worth the time, inconvenience, or money.

I went to a steakhouse in Denver, I think it was The Chophouse, and it was supposed to be one of the best the city had to offer. I had an edible beforehand and it's the only time I've ever used pot to try to enhance a fine dining experience (I rarely use pot period). Well it worked and was really one of the best meals I've ever had. But I don't know if the edible would've made me enjoy Sizzler just as much, so I review that restaurant with a big asterisk.

Buenos Aires Restaurant. It's an Argentinian place.

It's like a block or 2 away from Tompkins Square here in the city.

*edit** It's on east 6th, between Avenue A and B

South American steakhouses rule. They really understand meat and their subtle seasonings are off the chart.

I have been to both and agree that Delmonico's is much better.    Whenever I was out of mid-town and down by that area, I would try to hit that place.
