I posted this on my FB page also....another dealing with a cunt cop trying to be a dick for no reason. So today I was coming to the last 1/3 of my morning walk, full garbage bag of recyclables in hand when it began to start pouring. I was on Congress just south of Tiffany Springs. There's a small parkette next to the water park, which was about 1/4 mile away. I figured I'd just head to it and stand under the shelter until the storm passed. As I get close I notice a police SUV sitting at the edge of the parking lot watching for speeders. As i turn into the park, the cop lowers the window and asks what I"m doing. Told him I was just going to stand under the shelter till the rain passed. He told me the park was closed. I know it's not closed because I pass by this park every day and there are people who go through it almost every morning I go by. There are also no signs indicating it's closed. So I don't say anything, but give him a "are you serious?" look as it's pouring and I"m getting soaked. I guess his interpretation of that look didn't sit well, and he asked me for ID. Of course, I don't carry ID when I walk in the mornings, since I'm not driving, and I"m out for 7 miles, and picking up recyclables, and not going to risk losing my wallet. So I told him that I didn't have any on me.....He didn't like that answer. Tells me I need to be carrying ID on me ( Which is a lie, since I've gone through this exact situation with the police before walking my dogs and know this is not true) After rambling on about this he asks for my name and address...Again, I ask why do you need this info, I'm just walking and haven't done anything. Then the threats come about hauling me up to North Patrol. So I give him my name/address...and then I know exactly what's going to happen next. My immigration status will ping when he looks me up... I knew he was going to tell me he could put me on a 4 hr immigration hold before he even opened up his mouth. ....and......right on cue I get the next lecture. I don't say anything, because again, I've heard this speech from the cops before. So when he's done I asked him if he was seriously going to take me up to North Patrol for not going into a park? He tells me I can go on, albeit begrudginly. It's still pouring of course. So all this because I wanted to stand under a shelter in a park where there was not a single other person for 15-20 minutes until the rain passed. Meanwhile, I guarantee you that at least 3 or 4 people sped by while I was being questioned. This guy couldn't even do his job properly, and wasted my time for no valid reason. A power-tripping cop who violates his oath and the laws he's supposed to uphold? Knock me down with a feather. It's too late now, but you absolutely should have refused to provide ID. No reasonable, articulable suspicion of a crime? No ID. Period. You should have pulled your phone out and started video recording the interaction, asked him for his name and badge number, and then asked for him to summon his supervisor. Observe complete silence until the supervisor shows up. And no, there is no municipality or state in this country where one is required to carry ID.

Cops asking for papers unconstitutionally should be immediate grounds for termination and arrest, period, no exceptions and no context needed. Not needing to show authorities your papers might be the single most important principle this country was founded on.

Why didn't you just comply? If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to be afraid of. How many other illegals came up with you from El Salvador when you illegally crossed our border? Only criminals have problems with the police. This officer was stunning and brave. Thank you North Patrol for keeping us safe. BTW, I've reported you to the moderators here.

With the gyms shut I've been walking 7 miles each day I'm off from work, and have been picking up garbage/recyclables on the walks and was more worried I'd accidently drop my wallet/phone cash etc...somewhere along the route with all the bending down to pick up stuff. If I had my phone I would have recorded it.

The way you guys talk about the cops down there, I would think white, brown, or yellow, a cop bent on causing you trouble wouldn't think of making up a reason to shoot you if they came back at him with something like that. The guy was a cunt. Was he a dangerous cunt? Well, he did have a gun. What you say is right, but you're taking for granted this cop (any cop) would have reacted to it reasonably, I think.
