My feeling is that many men instinctively say "Bailey" because Jennifer/Loni Anderson was pushed so heavily as a sex symbol and by choosing Bailey they can seem sophisticated with their tastes. Now, I'm not taking anything away from Jan Smithers, who was gorgeous in a sexy-librarian sort of way, but Loni Anderson, despite the bleach and 80's makeup, was still a 99th percentile beauty. I also like that she emphasized her femininity, her softness, instead of being "stunning and brave" like today's women have to be. If I had to pick one or the other for one night of bliss, it would be Jennifer.

I agree 100% with you. I was coming to write the same thing. It's like it is the 'in' thing for every guy to say Bailey and yes she was super beautiful and had a great body, but please, Jennifer wins this hands down. And another thing, I am a huge Krp fan, and it bothers me so much that every time the show is mentioned, the Turkey episode is quoted. Good episode yes, but it wouldn't even sniff their top 20 episodes.

Ok, WKRP is one of my fav shows of all time and I have had this discussion dozens of times over the years. Every time someone said "Bailey" I just rolled my eyes, it was obviously Jennifer. BUT....but...as I've gotten older, into my 40's, I pulled out my dvd's when this pandemic started and binged the show again for like the 15th time and I found myself more attracted to Bailey...maybe it's an age thing..

Really? You're pushing 50, if not already there. I do agree with every word you said though. When I was a kid, I preferred Jennifer. But now it's Bailey all the way!

Definitely Bailey. WKRP in Cincinnati was such a great show and, in a way, it's underrated because so many people remember the Thanksgiving episode and completely disregard the rest of the series. There were so many classic episodes, not to mention classic scenes and lines within episodes that weren't quite classics themselves. Back to the Thanksgiving episode, the show got off to a bit of a rocky start in 1978-79 and was either on hiatus when this episode was taped or went on hiatus after it was taped. Anyway, CBS was considering pulling the plug. However, the reaction of the studio audience was so uproarious that WKRP's producers, staff, crew, and cast knew they were on to something. Then it aired to overwhelmingly positive fan and critical reaction. The episode basically saved the show. They got their full season order and were renewed from there.
