Voting lines are insane in NYC.  I've never seen it like this.  I got pretty lucky.  My wife went at 6am and gave up after a half hour because she had to get home to work.  She'll try again later.  I went at 8am and there was a line around the block, but after 5 minutes they were asking people what district they were in and sending people to the front of the line.  I was one of the lucky ones whose district was pretty empty at that moment so I went right in.

Because we all have the cooties, we not only get the "I Voted" sticker, but this year, as an added bonus at no additional cost, we get to keep the pen we used!  Who says we get nothing for our tax dollars.  Each pen was probably purchased from a government contractor for the low price of $649.99 , and now it's mine for free (other than my taxes going up 5% to cover the expenses)!  I love my country!

I proudly voted for Jo Jorgensen for President.  I voted for the Republican to get AOC out of the House, I abstained from the State Senate, and I voted for the Democratic judges.  We didn't have any propositions or really anything interesting going on at all in local races.

Here in Illinois, there's a change to the state constitution on the ballot. The amendment would essentially overturn the flat tax rate for the state to create a graduated income tax. Our governor (JB Pritzker, a billionaire on his own) has spent over a hundred million dollars promoting this, saying it will lower income tax for 97% of the state and only increase taxes on the wealthiest. Hmmm. In reality, the amendment allows the state to now change the income tax for any tier to anything they want in the future without any electoral consent.

Knowing Illinois politicians, this will come back to bite the middle class hard. Hopefully the sheep don't fall for commercials and ads.

I'll go after work.  I don't anticipate any delays.  Actually, there are never are where I vote, but this year there has been early voting available for a couple weeks just a few blocks away.  My mom and sister went the other day, and I think many others have already voted.  So I'm expecting it to be very quiet at the polls when I go.

My 77 year old mom asked me last night why they were boarding up the windows in Washington DC.  "Is it because they think the Trump voters will riot if he loses?"  I pointed out that Hillary Clinton polled over 90% in Washington 4 years ago.  So no, Trump voters aren't going to be the issue, as there really aren't any in that town.  I love the old lady but this is the low-information ignorance that gets drilled into her head by watching only network news and CNN.

This ain't getting solved tonight.

Deep down, nobody's life is suddenly gonna get 1 million times better or worse regardless of who gets into office. Trumps not gonna make everyone rich and Biden's not gonna get the US Canada-style healthcare. There's still gonna be antifas, proud boys, mass shooters and covids no matter whose in the white House

Here in Maryland, legalization of sports betting is on the ballot. Proceeds will supposedly benefit schools.

Did New York have voting by mail or early voting? I am surprised to hear that places are having really long lines for voting today since other voting options were available.

I trolled a few of my coworkers who are hardcore cons by telling them I found a polling station that let me vote even though I"m not a citizen.

Judging by the double post above you also told them you voted twice.

I voted this morning and went to the polls expecting a long line and wait. That wasn't the case. I walked in to find no line, instantly got my ballot, went to an open booth, filled it out, submitted it, and was out of there in under 10 minutes. There was a significantly longer wait, although not at all bad, to vote in the primary. I either got lucky by coming at the right time and the long waits in line occurred earlier and will occur later or a lot of people chose to vote early or as absentee voters.

Uh huh, Maryland residents heard the same story about 10 years ago when casinos moved into the state. Gotta wonder where all of that money is going though since there are numerous schools throughout the state that don't even have basics such as heat / air conditioning much less computers.
