You can't recover from pancreatic cancer.

I was never a big fan of Trebek, but I've been a fan of Jeopardy since the mid 1980's. A lot of people think I'm a dumbshit, and for the most part they're right. But those same people are amazed when I answer Jeopardy questions. Especially my Grandmother in law and mother in law. Yeah, my mind is full of useless information.

What is chicken kiev?

RIP
Alex Trebek

When you notice the symptoms from pancreatic cancer it's usually already too late. It has progressed too much.

Trebek filmed his last episodes of Jeopardy just 10 days ago on Oct. 29, and the finale will air on Christmas.

If he was that far along, how could he even do a minute of a TV show? When I was hospitalized when I was being treated for Lymphoma 11 years ago, the person next to me had stage 4 pancreatic cancer and he was in extremely bad shape. Just a terrible illness.

It's likely that he had access to better drugs than your roommate did, and eleven years later than you two were in likely means that the stuff they have is more effective in prolonging "normal" existence.

Just a guess.

I am amazed at how good Alex Trebek looked and how "with it" he was at age 80 - especially considering all of the medications and other treatments that he had to endure. I hope that when my time comes that I am able to be as calm, encouraging, and positive as he was.

My old man was diagnosed in 2006 and was dead 10 weeks later. Now we suspected something was up at least a year prior and told him to go see a specialist. But since he was a physician, and I wasn't, he chose not to listen to myself or my sisters. By the time it was confirmed it was far too late to do anything.

Pardon me for getting personal, but do you think he knew, but didn't want to worry everyone?

Ken Jennings will be a “guest host” for the first shows without Trebek. It’s possible that could become permanent.
