Patti has somewhere around 30 albums and is always considered the matriarch of American punk rock, but as far as commercial success "Because the Night" is as far as it goes. She get credit for co-writing the song with Springsteen, but I have read everything from her contribution consisted only of changing a few words in the lyrics to her completely rewriting the arrangement.

The one hit wonder thing does depend heavily on location.
Of course The Proclaimers are a national institution here in Scotland, who can forget the classic Letter from America:

Interesting. Then could you almost call Grateful Dead a one-hit wonder with Touch of Gray? I think they had maybe one other song make it to Billboard number 45 or 60 or so, but by accident. Touch of Gray came about, if I recall when they were forced by contract to release a full-fledged studio album? I am sure that Dead fans here know a lot more about this.

I think "Truckin'" briefly flirted with the charts, but after that a few songs like Casey Jones, Sugar Magnolia and Uncle John's Band got some airplay but didn't really achieve any significant success as singles.

Mister Mister had a second hit almost as big called "Kyrie"
Both songs hit Billboard # 1.
They had a third Top Ten hit with "Is It Love", which peaked at #8 on the Billboard charts.

"Frederick"- peaked at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100. She isn't a singles artist.

"What Do All the People Know"-The Monroes. Peaked at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100. Technically, not a hit.
"What About Me"- Moving Pictures. #29. Only charted single in the US.
"Life in a Northern Town"- Dream Academy. #7.
"The Love Parade"- #36. The follow up single.

While the Grateful Dead had a handfull of charted hits. Already noted in this thread they achieved lots of radio airplay . Besides those mentioned
Hell in a Bucket
Throwing Stones
Foolish Heart
all got airplay in the 1980's/1990's when they came out. Top selling hits or albums didn't stop the Dead from year in and year out being one of the top 10 concert draws in the country. Even in a post Jerry Garcia world they are still at it and I will be going to see Bob Weir's band Ratdog this Sunday.

Jailbreak was the follow up single to The Boys Are Back In Town.
It didn't chart in the US Billboard Hot 100. "Cowboy Song"- #77 was the only other charted US single the band had.
