Love Tom Waits. I think the contrast with his voice and lyrics is awesome. I love his older stuff especially like Small Change album with Tom Traubert's Blues.

I love him also. I realize he's not for everyone, but he's definitely a very talented and experimental musician and a very influential artist. I've been listening to him since I was 11 years old when my Father bought his "Sword Fish Trombone" cassette after seeing him on David Letterman. I love his early stuff also but my favorites by far are "Sword Fish Trombone," "Rain Dogs" and "Frank's Wild Years" era of albums. I picked up a compilation album of his consisting mostly of songs from that era, "Beautiful Maladies."
Actually thanks SK for bringing him up as I'm going to transfer that CD into the Itunes and listen to him right now.

I am a huge fan I never got to see him live (Had aticket a SXSW years ago but only got 1 and my wife couldn't get in so I gave mine away).

His voice and lyrics make him a aquired taste.

My brother is really into Tom Waits and has been for over 20 years so I've heard a ton of him. Distinctive voice. I like him.

"I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" is a song with some of my favorite lyrics.  Waits is one of those artists like Peter Gabriel who seems to be very popular in certain sects in college.
