Which decade do you think had the better movies, the 80's or the 90's?

90s. Kevin Smith, Tarantino, etc.

Many '80s movies really don't hold up that well.  They're better reminiscing about than actually seeing again.  I agree that Tarantino and Smith are two of my favorite directors.

The 80s had the brilliance that was Rocky 4. The 90s had Rocky 5.

90's probably had the BETTER movies, at least better made, better plots, etc...but the 80's had the funnier movies..well, funnier, and more FUN...

Since that's all most of us do here, is this a vote for the 80's?

The comedies from the late 70s to mid 80s hold up really well. Blues Brothers. Animal House. Caddyshack. Stripes. Trading Places. 48 Hours. Beverly Hills Cop.

Then you still had good stuff with Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Ferris Buehler's Day Off, Stand By Me and Lethal Weapon.

I keep seeing '80s action stars still getting big budget films - guys in some cases past 60 - Harrison Ford, Stallone, even Ahnold could get a deal if he was not governor. Tom Cruise came into his own in the 80s and he still gets big pictures. The 90s never came forward with an iconic action star that could draw long term.

So in that regard I will say the 80s films.
