Damn good song. Good vid. I think this may actually be from Live at Budokan, but I'm not sure. I'm guessing that from the Asian script that flashes at the bottom of the screen.

I haven't seen too much of them live, but they seem much punkier than I would have imagined.

One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite bands.  I highly recommend their box set "Sex, America, Cheap Trick".  All their hits, some demos, live performances, etc.

Hard to believe that came out thirty years ago.

I may have to look into that. I've been meaning to get a couple of their albums, but, from what I've read, their live stuff is a lot grittier and their studio albums are more polished.

Some of their studio songs sound like a blatant Beatles rip-off.  They sound a little more like The Clash live.

Saw them at East Carolina University around 1980 or 81 with UFO and Def Lepperd.

Ah, you're one of the few that can state that they saw Leppard as an opening band.
I saw them open for Billy Squier in (I think) 1983 at the Brendan Byrne Arena (NJ).  By the end of that tour, they were the hottest band in the world with "Pyromania".

Cheap Trick-decent band that doesn't disappoint once you hear them again after many years (unlike, say, Loverboy!).  "Need Your Love" was the tune off Live at Budoken that I liked the most followed by "Clock Strikes Ten".

I believe that High and Dry was the current Def Lepperd album at the time I saw them.  You are right, within the next year or so, they were one of the most popular bands in the world.

Around that same time, I saw Zebra open for Loverboy.   That's just so funny on so many levels in this day and age.  Randy Jackson is truly one of the best rock musicians in the world, while the clowns from Loverboy wear cheap leather pants poorly.
