that 71-72 Pirates outfield was the bomb.  Much better than in 79 when we won with Dave Parker, Bill Robinson and Omar Moreno, very good but not legendary.

The 71 team was the first team to field a all black team.  Danny Murtaugh the manager just said he put the best 9 on the field.  No other issue.   71 was also the year that Clemente finally got some respect.  Before the series he was widely villified as a surly hypochondriac.  

In 1971 even the Pirates backup outfielders were good like Gene Clines, Vic Davillio and Richie Zisk
