The 75 - 76 Reds starting 8 would be hard to beat.   The pitching was good but not great.  I still think the A's of 72 to 74 had the best overall team of the last 40 years.

Your point about the Reds is well taken, but they won a lot of 7-5, 9-7 type of games when the pitching flatered.  That team really was a machine.
