Okay, here was the former weasel of the week, Jeffrey Immelt, the top guy from GE who sends jobs overseas.
Watch this video on this link from 60 Minutes last night.
Couple of things came to my mind:
He said 60% of his consumers come from overseas. Okay, that makes sense since we have no manufacturing in the US anymore.
He calls himself a "complete globalist."
He keeps making his case that he has customers all over the world. That is nice, but that still does answer the question of why there is a need to move the work.
He wants even bigger tax breaks for corporations.
Wants another tax-free holiday, although the last one did not produce many jobs.
He does not mention how much the wages that GE is paying to workers overseas.
Reducing regs and paying for retraining of workers. What about those workers from Brazil and other countries....did their govt. retrain them?
They have even moved R & D overseas.
Voo, I did a lot of thinking in reading mags on the plane to NJ this weekend and you're right on about the jobs situation.
I'll talk further about this when FFL is not my priority, but that's spot-on.
