|I think your correct, and both parties are infested with policemen and PR mouthpieces to make sure that "Fair Trade" never becomes a reality.
The arrogance of Immelt is disgusting..."I'm a complete globalist." You are globalist, because you want the ability to keep finding people wot work for low non-competitive earnings, not worry about pensions, etc. Look at the clip when they show the new modern town in Brazil and they regard that as an investment for Brazil. Sure, these people will buy some products from Brazil for awhile, but they will eventually pull out of there and look for the next country to extract cheap labor. It looked like a guarded plantation sectioning off the have's from the have-not's.
On top of the cheap labor, they bullshit their way through with some false hope that if the corporate taxes were just lower in the U.S. then we would see more jobs.....not unless the American worker is willing to have minimal earnings. These wages would come with 401k plans or whatever else instrument they come up with to suck more money from the workers and retirees and there is no guarantee that these plans go belly up 10, 15, 20 years down the road.
Immelt makes it sound like that he needs to have low wages and lowered corp. taxes to be competitive.....maybe, but at what expense to the workers who are helping you turn your profit, be it a huge profit or a small profit?
I think this interview was very telling, and it shows the mindsets that we as a nation we are dealing with. He made sure he wanted everybody to know that he is a proud American, but not if it comes in between him and his profit margin.
