Speaking of the Timberwolves...
You knew there would be some idiot black "civil rights" leaders that were going to complain and cry racism over this, even though you just know that if they had their way, not just the whole team, but the whole damn league would be black. The best part is the claim that the team isn't diverse, even though five out of the 10 non-black players were born outside the U.S.
Just for this stupidity I hope that the T-Wolves go a long way this year.
It's a stupid thing to complain about, but it's not a stupid discussion point. If the league is whatever percent black and this team is whatever percent white, it's completely legitimate to say "hmm, that's interesting". Is it a coincidence or is it by design? I don't think it matters. They haven't been winning and the owners need to make money. Bill Watts pushed black wrestlers because he thought it would attract folks and if the Timberwolves want to push white players to attract folks, more power to them. They say it's not what they are doing and no one can really say what their intentions are. I think they have every right to do so and Kevin Love is an elite straight up baller that I would have on my team over most power forwards. He's a lot more skilled than Blake Griffin, but I believe in the long term, Blake's entertainment value and Kevin's lack of being a difference maker in the win-loss column would give Blake the edge to me.
I'll reiterate that I have no problem with the Wolves and believe they have every right to what they want to do with their roster. However, I'm on the record that after what I've been reading on this site about people like me, it should come as no surprise that some of us out there believe that a team may want to boost the 'human' population of their roster so that they market their team more effectively.
BTW - DJP, I'm not disputing your claims of anyone being an idiot or debating your position on the subject. I fully understand where you are coming from.
Gulas sent Tommy Rich to do a tv job for Abby and when Jim Barnett saw him, he nixed it and said, I could do something with him.
