The Chicago Blackhawks kept one of their own as they agreed to terms with defenseman Ryan Stanton on a one-year contract Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Stanton appeared in the Hawks' regular-season finale and was a plus-1 with two penalty minutes in his NHL debut. He remained with the Hawks throughout their run to the Stanley Cup as one of the team's Black Aces.

Prior to joining the Hawks, Stanton had a career-high 22 assists and added three goals in 73 regular-season games with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, He also posted a career-best plus-16 plus-minus rating.

Stanton was originally signed by the Hawks as a free agent on March 12, 2010. He will get a long look during training camp to win a roster spot for the 2013-14 season.
