Report: Blake to replace Hextall in Los Angeles

Rob Blake is once again returning to the Los Angeles Kings. This time, it’s to replace Ron Hextall as assistant general manager, sources tell MayorsManor.

If true, Blake will make the move from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, where he’s been since January of 2010 and where he worked with the league’s chief disciplinarian, Brendan Shanahan.

Blake, of course, spent the majority of his stellar hockey career playing defense for the Kings. In fact, he had two stints in Los Angeles; his first return to the club that drafted him came in 2006 when he signed as a free agent.

The Kings will apparently make the announcement later this week.
