For a Phillies season where everything has to go right for the Phillies, they are off to a poor start. The first injury has hit the Phillies already weak starting rotation. According to John Clark of CSN Philly, Cole Hamels will miss Opening Day:

Cole Hamels has discomfort in his shoulder. Shoulder tendinitis. So he is behind in throwing schedule. #PhilliesTalk

Cole Hamels probably wont be ready for opening day. He says he is hoping for first week of season. #PhilliesTalk

This could explain the Phillies' recent interest in free agent starter A.J. Burnett. The Phillies need a starter now more than ever. The Phillies have only five other starters in camp, with two of them finishing 2013 on the disabled list and one never having thrown a pitch in the major leagues.

Call Burnett now, please.

UPDATE: Clark got a picture of Hamels throwing. It's not off of a mound, but it's a sign that Hamels could be on the rebound.

Heres Cole Hamels long tossing. he's not throwing off mound yet. Wont be ready opening day. #PhilliesTalk
