SNL had a skit in the late 1980s in which a legendary folk duo modeled after Simon and Garfunkel were interviewed and profiled on a talk show. Guest host John Malkovich played the Garfunkel type. He rhythmically hand clapped while the Paul Simon type sang, played guitar, and was acknowledged as the songwriter and creative genius. When one a clip from one of Malkovich's character's solo albums was played, it consisted only of him hand clapping with no other music or lyrics.
