To give you an idea, in July 1995 I saw The Hip headline an outdoor show in Markham, Ontario that I'm guessing drew somewhere in the 20-30,000 range.  Three months later in DC I saw them in a bar (930 Nightclub) that probably held 200 tops.  Here in Buffalo they played the hockey arena and pretty much filled it.  Yet a couple hours down the road in Cleveland you could see them in a nightclub called The Odeon.
