The Minnesota Twins have found their man.

Longtime Texas Rangers executive Thad Levine was announced as the new general manager and senior vice president of the club on Thursday.

"I am inspired to work for the Twins franchise, known as being one of the best organizations in all of professional sports due to stalwart leadership of the Pohlad family, commitment of its loyal workforce, talent of its players and unflagging loyalty of its fans," Levine wrote in a press release.

The 44-year-old Levine will work under the Twins' new chief baseball officer Derek Falvey, who signed on just a few weeks ago.

Rumors of the Levine hiring have swirled for weeks, after LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star-Tribune first reported Minnesota's interest.

Levine has been the assistant GM in Texas, operating under Jon Daniels since 2005.

Minnesota finished with the worst record in baseball this past season, going 59-103.
