Less than 2 weeks ago, Justin Verlander was cruising against the Yankees and was pulled with a fairly modest pitch count and the bullpen blew the game.  A.J. Hinch was being attacked by the media of course, but he said in the postgame press conference that he asked Verlander if he wanted to go back out there and Verlander said point blank, "I don't have anything left, take me out."  Even 5 years ago I don't think any pitcher would ever say that, and I don't think any manager would admit his pitcher said that even if he did.  Anything above "5 and fly" now is considered exceptional.
