I don't care about how they looked or how their careers went up to that point, when Verne put them together I can't imagine that he expected them to basically make the Midnight Rockers look like the best tag team in the world, but they did such a great job of it that the Rockers went to the WWF a lot faster than they probably should have had any right to go. And so many people say the same thing: That Rockers vs Rose/Somers is their favorite memory of that period of the AWA and one of the better tag feuds of the decade and it still holds up.
This is all true, but I struggle to think of one other decent match that Rose & Somers had as a team, and I can't really think of any other good match that Somers ever had period.  So maybe these two teams just clicked when they wrestled, but I'm not sure if I'm prepared to say that Rose & Somers were underrated in any other context.

In fact, maybe this is a good topic: wrestlers who only seemed awesome against one other guy/team.  Like Makhan Singh (Norman the Lunatic), for example, who was magic when wrestling Owen Hart in Stampede but could barely get into the ring at any other time.

This thread was great before AA ruined it.
