WWE only gave it one segment on Raw, but it was a very fitting tribute to Gene.  The video went beyond expectations and even included a lot of the outtakes and crack-ups that have been going around the Internet.  I never expected in this day and age for WWE to show the Wendy Richter clip.

Hogan was very good here and clearly emotional.  He gave the fans what they wanted with one last cheesy '80s style promo to Gene.

It seemed like for once WWE got the tone of something right and was able to celebrate Gene's life in a way that the fans and Gene would've wanted.

There was zero backlash to Hogan, and I found it amusing that WWE found some black fans cheering him to put on camera like they were Fox News at the Republican Convention.  I didn't expect any issues, especially in Orlando, but I think this smooth appearance has cleared the way for Hogan to return to TV anytime they want.  It was smart that his first segment back was about Gene and not about him, and no mention was even made that he hadn't been on Raw in x number of years.  He just kind of slipped back in there to pay tribute to a friend like he was never gone, and that will make future appearances that are about him much easier.

No Ric Flair though.  PWInsider said he would be there, so I don't know what happened.
