Today's Hidden Jem

Earlier today, we tweeted out a rumor we’d heard about today’s “hidden gem” which told us that it was set to be one of the “last remaining episodes” of Championship Wrestling from Leroy McGuirk’s Tri-State territory (somewhat of a predecessor to Bill Watt’s Mid-South Wrestling and the UWF). Well, they made us sweat for a while but it turns out that the information we received was absolutely correct. Given the name “Leroy’s Lasting Legacy” and dated 08/12/1978, the episode runs for 42:30 and features such big names as Paul Orndorff and Ernie Ladd earlier in their careers. Here is the official synopsis:

Witness one of the surviving episodes of Championship Wrestling from the McGuirk territory featuring Paul Orndorff, Ernie Ladd and more.

As the above suggests, episodes prior to Bill Watts’ operation of the era are exceedingly rare. To the point that there just wouldn’t be enough to include as proper classic content. So, this is once again a situation where Hidden Gems has unearthed a sizable chunk of footage that just wouldn’t fit elsewhere. Finally, here is a direct link courtesy of the WWE Network Reddit Bot:
