I just can not believe that there wasn't at least one check of the recording prior to it's airing, which is apparently what the NWA told us indirectly. Any number of things could have been on it, including signs, words and/or actions by members of the audience that weren't noticed at the time the show was recorded. You would think at least 1 person would do this just to avoid any legal actions.

It's either that, or the person/people who did that found nothing wrong or offensive with Corny's comments, and he got hung out to dry when there was an outcry.

TBH until I read what was said I assumed this was all blowback from the comments Cornette made regarding Justin Roberts. It can be a hard lesson to learn but comments that wouldn't have caused any reaction 30+ years ago won't pass muster today. You could not get a show like "All In The Family" or a movie like "Blazing Saddles" made in today's PC compliant world.
