Gave me something better to do when sports were on hiatus: I too loved "Spenser For Hire" the TV series and have read many of the novels. Currently reading Cold Service. Do you find the books a little simplistic in terms of the writing style? They are fairly quick reads but to me are no where near as "fleshed out" as the books of Michael Connelly "Harry Bosch" or Jeffrey Deaver "Lincoln Rhyme " to name a couple in sort of the same genre? Nothing wrong with books you can breeze through in a few hours but with Parker I feel I can really be doing a couple other things while I'm reading and won't be distracted whereas most of the time I like relative quiet while I'm reading or some low easy listening background music.
