 I ended up using the old post holes. Other than a bit of clean up I was able to get away with minimal digging using a manual post hole digger that my neighbour had. I honestly wouldn't care if we had a fence or not if it wasn't for the dogs. They'd run off if it wasn't fenced in. I kept the old posts though and am trying to figure out how to repurpose them. I think I might use them on the side of the house to set up some planters later this summer.
