Right before Watts sold out to JCP, the UWF ran a national tour in the spring of 1987 that just bombed. Business was already down in the old Mid-South area, but when this national tour did no business, I think Watts realized he'd better get out while the getting was good. That Twin Cities card didn't even draw 1,000 fans in a nearly 16,000 seat building and most of the other cities didn't do much better. The only city that did any business was Atlanta on April 12, 1987 where an announced 8,500 came to the Omni. I largely attribute that crowd to Joe Pedicino pushing the card so much on his lengthy TV wrestling block, although that number is probably worked anyway. Unfortunately the Superdome show on April 11 drew something like 4.000 people. JCP was in charge by that Muskogee taping when the UWF belt was switched to Big Bubba.
