Big George had been an All Star level performer with the Pacers in the ABA and then in the NBA for the Sixers. He averaged 22.6 ppg and 11.4 rpg in his first year in Denver, but then fell apart and was out of basketball after the 1981-82 season. In Philly, Jones ended up winning a title in 1982-83 and was 1st team All Defense 6 times and 2nd team on another occasion.
the Sixers got the better end of that trade for sure.  McGinnis and DR.J could get along and Jones was a shutdown defensive foward and could score 15ppg. i think that Jones even made the all star team, even though he was a back up for the Sixers.

Jones was the NBA's first 6th man of the year winner while he was with the 76ers.
