Last week, a guy sent me 12 DVDs of mid 80s Crockett fan cams hoping that I could help put locations and dates to them.
I got lucky with the first show because a return date was mentioned by the ring announcer and I cross referenced that with Cornette's new book to track down the location.
JCP @ Roanoke, VA - Civic Center - March 9, 1986 (matinee)
NWA US Champion Magnum TA defeated Nikita Koloff (w/ Ivan Koloff) via disqualification at the 14-minute mark when Ivan interfered after the challenger sustained the belly to belly suplex; after the bout, the Koloffs double teamed Magnum and Nikita hit the Russian Sickle before Pez Whatley and Sam Houston made the save
NWA Tag Team Champions Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey defeated Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match; fall #1: Eaton pinned Morton at the 11-minute mark with a kneedrop off the top to Morton's broken hand; fall #2: Gibson pinned Eaton with a sunset flip out of the corner at the 10-minute mark; fall #3: Eaton pinned Gibson at the 51-second mark after hitting him with Jim Cornette's tennis racquet after the challengers knocked an interfering Cornette to the floor with the double dropkick
NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes (w/ Baby Doll) via disqualification at the 19-minute mark when referee Earl Hebner caught Rhodes assaulting Flair with his own leg brace, which Flair had torn off him moments earlier; a TV cameraman was ringside for the match; after the bout, Rhodes hit Hebner with the weapon as well
Haven't been as lucky with some of these others.
Here's what I've gone through thus far. When it comes to 1986 results, my Crockett stuff isn't close to complete so if anyone can help put dates or locations to these, it would be a big help.
JCP @ ? - Spring 1986
Wahoo McDaniel defeated NWA National Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard via reverse decision at the 7:30 mark when - after McDaniel had been pinned following a knee to the back - the referee changed the call after realizing JJ Dillon held McDaniel's foot down during the cover; after the match, Jimmy Garvin jumped McDaniel and repeatedly hit him over the back with a steel chair as Blanchard easily fought off two wrestlers that tried to make the save; moments later, NWA US Champion Magnum TA came out and cleared the ring
NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes via disqualification at around the 18-minute mark; both Tommy Young and Earl Hebner served as referees for the match; Rhodes and Baby Doll initially thought Rhodes had won the title following a clothesline and Young crawling over - making three slaps to the mat as he did so - but Young then said he saw Rhodes throw Flair over the top rope moments earlier
NWA US Champion Magnum TA defeated Nikita Koloff in a steel cage match at 8:51; both men were counted down by the referee after colliding into the cage, with the referee then telling the ring announcer that the first man to reach his feet would be declared the winner
JCP @ ? - Spring 1986
Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson defeated NWA Tag Team Champions Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey in a non-title match when Gibson pinned Condrey with a sunset flip after Morton prevented a double team; Jim Cornette was suspended above the ring in a cage for the duration of the match
NWA US Champion Magnum TA defeated Nikita Koloff (w/ Ivan Koloff) via disqualification when Ivan broke the cover after Magnum hit the belly to belly suplex; after the match, the champion was double teamed, with Nikita eventually hitting the Russian Sickle and then bringing out a Russian chain until the Italian Stallion, Don Kernodle, and another wrestler came out to make the save and helped Magnum backstage
Dusty Rhodes (w/ Baby Doll) & Wahoo McDaniel defeated NWA Natoinal Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard & NWA TV Champion Arn Anderson in a No DQ, no time-limit match leather strap / Texas bullrope match when McDaniel pinned Anderson at 6:36 following a standing elbow from Rhodes; after the match, JJ Dillon interfered which allowed McDaniel to be double teamed until Rhodes cleared the ring with the bullrope
NWA World Champion Ric Flair pinned Ron Garvin in a steel cage match at 25:24 when Garvin's leg went out as he attempted to catch Flair's crossbody; the match had a 90-minute time-limit
JCP @ ? - Spring 1986
Tony Schiavone was the ring announcer for the show
Ron Garvin fought NWA TV Champion Arn Anderson to a 15-minute time-limit draw; Garvin punched Anderson with his injured right hand during the closing moments but wasn't able to make the cover before the time expired
NWA US Champion Magnum TA defeated Nikita Koloff via reverse decision; Koloff originally won the match and title around the 15-minute mark after hitting Magnum with a chain while the referee was down on the floor; after the decision was made, a second referee came out, told the initial referee what happened, and the call was changed; after the bout, Koloff assaulted Magnum until Magnum gained the upper hand and threw Koloff into the ringpost
Dusty Rhodes & Wahoo McDaniel defeated NWA World Champion Ric Flair & NWA National Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard in a leather strap match at 7:35 when McDaniel pinned Blanchard after hitting him with the strap as Blanchard came off the top; Rhodes had Flair in the figure-4 at the time of the fall; prior to the match, Jimmy Garvin attacked McDaniel from behind and then left ringside
JCP @ ? - Return from the above show?
Jimmy Garvin defeated Wahoo McDaniel via count-out at 5:29 after throwing McDaniel head-first into the ringpost; after the bout, McDaniel attacked Garvin and cleared both he and Precious from ringside
Dusty Rhodes defeated NWA National Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard in a non-title no time limit Texas Death Match; fall #1: Rhodes pinned Blanchard with the Bionic Elbow at around the 25-second mark; fall #2: Rhodes pinned Blanchard at around the 1-minute mark following a series of standing elbows; fall #3: Rhodes pinned Blanchard with a clothesline; fall #4: Blanchard pinned Rhodes after hitting him with a taped fist; fall #5: Blanchard pinned Rhodes at the 30-second mark after hitting him with a taped fist after Rhodes became distracted by JJ Dillon on the apron; fall #6: Rhodes pinned Blanchard at the 2-minute mark with a tackle; fall #7: Blanchard pinned Rhodes with a figure-4 at at the 2-minute mark after taking off one of Rhodes' cowboy boots; fall #8: Rhodes pinned Blanchard at the 1-minute mark with an inside cradle as Blanchard attempted the figure-4; Rhodes was declared the winner after both men collided in the ring and referee Tommy Young began counting them both, with Rhodes reaching his feet first
NWA World Champion Ric Flair fought Ricky Morton to a 60-minute time-limit draw; prior to the bout, Robert Gibson escorted Morton to the ring; Flair kicked out of a hurricanrana just before the time limit expired

First spring of '86 is quite possibly this card:
April 4, 1986 Roanoke, VA ($40,000 Cornette)
Denny Brown d. Thunderfoot
Jim Garvin d. Italian Stallion
Black Bart d. Sam Houston
Wahoo McDaniel d. (DQ) Tully Blanchard
Magnum T.A. d. Nikita Koloff
Robert Gibson/Ricky Morton d. Dennis Condrey/Bobby Eaton (non-title, Jim Cornette in a cage)
Ric Flair d. (DQ) Dusty Rhodes
Second spring of '86 is possibly this one. It doesn't have all the details, but it's only one I have with the correct matches.
March 29, 1986 Greensboro, NC 12,339 ($95,000 Cornette)
Nelson Royal d. George South
Don Kernodle d. Thunderfoot
Jim Garvin d. Italian Stallion
Robert Gibson/Ricky Morton d. Dennis Condrey/Bobby Eaton (non-title, Jim Cornette in a cage)
Magnum T.A. d. Nikita Koloff
Dusty Rhodes/Wahoo McDaniel d. Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard
Ric Flair d. Ron Garvin
I can't find anything matching the last two cards. Both are very unlikely to be in North Carolina cards as those results were generally sent in.

That April Roanoke show seems very possible, especially considering at least one fan was in attendance in March with a video camera.
Here's another to add to the list.
JCP @ ? - 1986
Don Kernodle & Ron Bass defeated NWA Six Man Tag Team Champions Ivan & Nikita Koloff via disqualification when the referee saw Nikita hit Bass with his chain as Bass had a claw applied on Ivan; after the match, Bass cleared the ring with a steel chair
NWA US Champion Magnum TA pinned NWA TV Champion & NWA National Tag Team Champion Arn Anderson with a roll up at around the 20-minute mark as Anderson gloated over having kept his title; the TV title was only on the line for the first 20 minutes; the US title was on the line from that point on Jimmy Valiant (w/ Baby Doll) defeated Tully Blanchard in a taped fist match when Blanchard couldn't answer the referee's standing 10-count after NWA National Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes interfered behind the referee's back
NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated NWA National Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes via reverse decision; Rhodes originally won the match and title at around the 20-minute mark after hitting Flair with his cowboy boot but referee Tommy Young, who was at ringside, told referee Sonny Fargo what happened with Fargo then changing the call

And another. The timeframe on this one should make things relatively easy. We're looking at between Jan. 11 (when Houston won the belt) and Feb. 2 (when the RnR lost the belts).
JCP @ ? - 1986
NWA Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Sam Houston pinned Black Bart with a roll up
NWA US Champion Magnum TA pinned the Barbarian with a roll up after the challenger collided with Paul Jones on the apron
Ron Garvin fought Tully Blanchard to a 30-minute time-limit draw; Blanchard was caught in a Boston Crab for the last 15 seconds of the bout; after the contest, Garvin tried to get at JJ Dillon but Blanchard jumped him from behind and hit the slingshot suplex
NWA TV Champion Arn Anderson pinned Manny Fernandez by grabbing the tights for leverage after the momentum of a crossbody by Fernandez put Anderson on top
NWA Tag Team Champions Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson defeated Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey when Morton pinned Eaton with a sunset flip into the ring; Eaton & Condrey originally won the match and titles moments earlier when Eaton pinned Gibson after hitting Gibson with Jim Cornette's tennis racquet behind the referee's back but referee Tommy Young ordered the match to continue

These results have Jim Garvin against Blanchard, but looks like it's the one.
February 2, 1986 Charlotte, NC 10,200 ($101,000 Cornette) afternoon
Misty Blue d. Linda Dallas
Ron Bass/Nelson Royal d. Jim Jeffers/Mac
Don Kernodle d. Thunderfoot
Sam Houston d. Black Bart
Magnum T.A. d. Barbarian
Arn Anderson d. Manny Fernandez
Jim Garvin drew Tully Blanchard
Robert Gibson/Ricky Morton d. Dennis Condrey/Bobby Eaton
Cornette has the attendance being 12,000
Can't find anything matching the other one.Last edited on Sun Oct 25th, 2009 06:16 pm by Hammer to Fall

That might be it. Thank you!
I gotta think Jimmy Garvin is a typo. He was very much heel at that point.

| It's a likely bet that Jimmy Garvin is listed instead of the correct Ron Garvin.
