Missed the first hour, but his interaction with Vince was nothing short of great

Looking forward to the rest of RAW, and I haven't felt that way in ages

Jesse Ventura just cut a great promo on Vince saying how his father didn't have any confidence in him so he made him an announcer where even he couldn't screw up.  Then he "booked" a reunion of him and Vince back at the broadcast table together to do commentary and gave Vince one of the old horrible SNME's tuxedos to wear.  This should be good.  Ventura has been phenomenal so far tonight and the show has been really strong.

Nothing particularly spectacular tonight, but this was the most enjoyable Raw of the year, top to bottom, for me.  Just a really fun show with some fresh matches, a solid Cena vs. Punk match which was one of the better Raw bouts in quite some time, lots of nostalgia with the Vince, Jesse, and Gobbly Gooker stuff (and Maryse as the Gooker was a pretty cool and surprising way for her to return), and a real attempt to make 2 new stars in Kofi Kingston and Sheamus.

Ventura turning heel on Cena and calling him a company man and not a rebel was a great ending to a great show.  He owned Cena on the mic in about 10 words.  Sheamus laid him out and even though you know he's gonna get destroyed at the PPV at least for one night he looked like a legit star and got Jesse's seal of approval to help him.

It's funny, my wife came in the room while Vince and Jesse were announcing and she (who was a fan growing up in the 80s) did the closest a non-fan can do to marking out over hearing them call a match again. Her exact words were "I like when these guys are announcing, everyone else they have do it sucks".

Can't say I disagree. I do wish someone would have done a backdrop so I could have heard Vince bust out BAAAAAAAAAACK BODY DROP~! one more time.

I kinda wished that Vince would have just went for it. Really went old school with it. Instead, he just kind of sounded tired and old.

I did mark out for him coming out to the old SMNE theme song. I know it's a real song, and I'm sure the next post will be someone giving its details.

I dont know. It wouldnt suprised me that Sheamus wins, seem like the they finally woke up about needing new major stars. I could see a short run to Rumble or the Chamber ppv.

Is the match a TLC match? If so I can see Sheamus winning he doesnt have to pin Cena to get the belt.

updated: Its a table match so like I said before I wouldnt be suprised to see Sheamus win.

What they need to do is put a Manager with Sheamus. Then have all kinds of BS involved in his winning the Match and the Belt in his first attempt. Then use it as a showcase for a manager who can really piss people off.

I'd love to see Kevin Sullivan get the gig.

Just got done watching Raw. Good show. Kind of wished I went.

Vince walking down the ramp with that haircut and with the bow tie he looked like Mr. Backlund.

If Vince would drop the Mr. McMahon gimmick I would love him to stay announcer he be way better than Cole.

I TIVO'd the last 2 hours and watched that match. Listening to Vince and Jesse work that battle royale was so much better than listening to anybody else.

I'll go further than that.  This is what's missing.  The announcers can't get guys over anymore.  For some reason I'll listen if it's Jesse Ventura talking about Shamus.  If it's Michael Cole I don't give a damn

The thing that really jumped out at me was what a phenomenal job Ventura did of getting over Sheamus, who I'm sure he had never heard of 2 hours before he went on the air, as compared to every other announcer.  He wasn't listening to Kevin Dunn in his air and he didn't say "WWE Universe" every other sentence for no particular reason, he just paid attention to what was going on in the ring.

Jesse's pro-heel color commentary in the 80s put over all of Hogan's monster heel challengers to the point where he can be considered a big (if unsung)  part of Hulkamania

How bloody refreshing was that?!? I love Cornette's story about making Kevin Dunn cry. The only thing about Raw that disappointed me was that Vince wasn't more into the announcing thing, he sounded rather lackluster.
