Wasn't Curt Hennig getting the AWA Title Verne's way of keeping him from going to work for Vince in '87 ( since he briefly lost Michaels/Jannetty )?

Favorite wrestler-Nick Bockwinkel

least favorite wrestler-Buddy Rose. I know he was a talented guy but I hated that such a fat slob held a part of the AWA tag title for so long. he was the AWA's Honky Tonk Man in that regard for me.

tag team-Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell

manager-Bobby Heenan

angle-3-way tie:
a)"Newcomer" Dino Bravo beats SD II on TV...II has to unmask. There's more to it but trust me it was a big deal at the time.
b) Curt Hennig beats Nick Bockwinkel for the title at Super Clash II. Did Zbyszko pass Hennig a roll of dimes?
c) Jerry Blackwell's face turn, from the June 1984 Battleroyal through the October Brody-Blackwell death match where Blackwell buried the hatchet with mortal enemy Greg Gagne. the heat for that moment was off the charts.
(There are soooo many more....)

feud-Blackwell-Kaissie vs. Gagne-Brunzell. Their feud was off the charts for more than a year when the Flyers held the tag titles. Also, High Flyers vs. Ventura/Adonis, and Rockers vs. Rose and Somers...again, many more could go here as well, and tons I have read about but never had a chance to see, like Mad Dog vs. Crusher.

match-way too many to pick just one. Greg Gagne W Nick Bockwinkel (TV non-title) in the summer of 1979 was a personal moment of revelation as to how much I enjoyed wrestling, and my viewing habits became hardcore after that, so I'll pick that one for now.

Favorite wrestler- Nick Bockwinkel.

least favorite wrestler- Boris Breznikoff. The man known as Nikolai Volkoff in many other territories sucked balls in the AWA. He just wasn't a good fit. Bobby Heenan being his manager couldn't even get him over.

tag team-Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens

manager-Bobby Heenan

angle-Blackwell's face turn

feud-Crusher vs Mad Dog

match- Verne Gagne vs Billy Robinson.

Favorite wrestler-  First favorite was Cowboy Bill Watts, the Crusher

least favorite wrestler - Probably Buddy Wolff, but not so much because he was a 'bad worker' or anything of that sort...he just annoyed the shit out of me

tag team- Crusher and Bruiser, followed by Bastein and Lyons

manager-  Bobby Heenan.  Who else?

angle-  Billy Robinson just shows up on tv one week with no introduction, no fanfare and no buildup at all.  He is match against Shozo Kobayashi, who was undefeated at the time.  It takes about 30 seconds to see Robinson isn't just another jobber and he gets a win with a clean pin .

feud-  Bill Watts v Dr. X,  Crusher v. Mad Dog Vachon

match-  I default to the Crusher - Vachon cage match in August 1970 in Milwaukee.   Lots of leadup coverage in the Milwaukee Journal, lots of tv coverage in the two weeks prior and the match was moved from the Milwaukee Auditorium to the Arena, drawing over 10,000, as I recall.   And no, I sadly wasn't there to see it.  This was the main blowoff to a two year feud.

Favorite wrestler- Ray "The Crippler" Stevens

least favorite wrestler - Buck "Rock N Roll" Zhumhoffe

tag team- This is a tough one for me as so many good to great tag teams came through this area, even up until their dying days. I think I have to go with The Road Warriors with Da Crusher and Da Bruiser as a close second.

manager- Bobby "The Brain" Heenan (One of the greatest managers of all time!)

angle- Ray Stevens' babyfae turn on Nick Bockwinkel (saw this on an AWA Best of the 70s PPV, and it was really good)

feud- Jimmy Snuka vs. Col. DeBeers (one of my first exposures to the AWA product)

match- Verne Gagne vs. Billy Robinson (Comisky Park, again from that 1970s PPV in clips, and it looked excellent)

Same premise as the Dino Bravo-SD II angle I spoke of in my writings.

Favorite wrestler - The Crusher. He was old by the time I became a fan, but everyone loved the interviews and his brawls were still fun if you suspended disbelief.

least favorite wrestler - Bobby Duncum. He just came off as slow and boring.

tag team - Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura. Their interviews were great and while Adonis was the workhorse, Jesse played to the crowd well.

manager - Bobby Heenan. Hayes and Kaissey never came close to comparing to The Brain.

angle - Jerry Blackwell's babyface turn. After 5 years as one of the AWA's lead heels, his turn to effectively the lead babyface in the battle royal and subsequent beat down was amazing.

feud - Hulk Hogan vs. The Heenan Family. We never got a satisfactory ending, but it was fun while it lasted with Hulk battling Bockwinkel, demolishing Heenan, bringing in Andre as a partner, and so on.

match - High Flyers vs. East West Connection at St. Paul Civic Center. My first cage match.
