Ken Viewers overreliance on footnotes made think how misleading footnotes could be. For instance, the majority of really old school wrestlers seemingly had constantly changing hometowns and even nationalities, which makes correct identifications at times rather difficult if more than one guy used a certain name. Because of that you could have for some guys at least a dozen footnotes with different hometowns from newspaper cards.

So I wonder if there are cases where you noticed a ridiculous amount of different hometowns for a certain wrestler.

Chilly Willy (who'se gimmick was that he was from the town where the show was) doesn't count.

Ted DiBiase had several "seasonal residences" when he was the Million Dollar Man.

Nikita went from the USSR to Lithuania after the Cold War ended.

Some guys would adopt a city that was in a territory they had worked after they had moved on.  Buck Zumhofe would double-dip and say "Hamburg, MN" to appease locals watching his AWA bouts but the announcer would add "now wrestling out of Honolulu, HI" because it gave credence to the traveling worldwide nature of the performers.

Larry Hennig used Elk River, Minneapolis and Robbinsdale, MN as hometowns in the AWA alone, and in the mid 70s added Phoenix to his list.  He had at one point tried to promote there and thus the basis to bill another guy as somewhere else besides Minnesota.

Sometimes a guy would get an early billing because nobody had really bothered to craft a persona for them.  Adrian Adonis got billed from Greece when he started in the AWA in 1979 in this manner.  Marty Jannetty must have been booked for print ads in newspapers and to the arenas typing the lineup sheets because his early AWA bookings had him as GINNETTI, 260 pounds from New York.  Fun basic pro wrestling inattentiveness.

Billy Graham from Death Valley Arizona, and Paradise Valley

Im sure Bruno was done from Itally, then later pittsburgh

When in Mid-South, Buddy Landell was sometimes announced from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, or just "California" (all the while sounding like a straight Tennessee Hillbilly)

I know Jake the Snake has been announced from several different hometowns.  I've seen Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Texas towns, and Stone Mountain, GA.    Maybe NOLA too. I tend to think he was billed from the town he was currently holding a home in (I know he's lived in all of those place - except maybe Stone Mountain).

As European Champion, D-Lo Brown hailed from many European capitals and major cities, a different one each match.

Nikolai Volkoff was billed from Mongolia as Nikolai Volkoff, he had previously competed as Bepo Mongol. He then was billed as hailing from Russia and when he turned face, from Lithuania.

Johnny Valentine had several hometowns listed in old clippings: Seattle, Miami, Houston, and I'm thinking somewhere in California or perhaps another town in Texas when he was Rocky Valentine.

Seems like there was some bottom of the card guy for ECW, WCW, or even WWF that was lucky enough to get to tour on house shows, but they'd bill him from whatever town they were in to try to get a cheap pop.

Flair was billed as from Minneapolis instead of Charlotte when we wrestled in WCCW. Where was he "from" in his pre-Nature Boy days in AWA and the Carolinas?

Chilly Willy, mentioned in the first post.

Al Snow also did the various-locales-in-Europe thing while he was European champ.
